Purely Joyful Movie!

Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

Director David DeCoteau has been quoted as saying (about the 1980s) "You could make anything and it sold." Nothing shows this to be more true than Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama, a cheap piece of z-grade trash that is notable only for its classic scream queen trifecta of Linnea Quigley, Michelle Bauer (credited here as Michelle McClellen) and Brinke Stevens. The film opens with three college losers (Andras Jones, Hal Havins and John Stuart Wildman) spying on a pair of sorority girls (Bauer and Stevens) being initiated by having their backsides paddled and their bodies sprayed with cream, after which they take a shower. Caught peeping on the young women as they wash, the nerds are forced to accompany the initiates on their final task to steal a trophy from the local bowling alley.Breaking into the alley out of hours, the pledges and their male companions bump into punk burglar Spider (Quigley), before carrying out their objective, opting for the largest trophy—a big mistake, for therein lurks an evil imp, trapped for the last thirty years, but freed to cause havoc when the trophy is accidentally dropped. Cue lots of wearisome nonsense as the imp torments the kids, granting them wishes that backfire, and terrorising them by turning three sorority sisters into deadly demons.Lousy special effects (the imp is a truly terrible puppet and there's an unconvincing severed head), a pitiful script packed with cringe-worthy humour, and dreadful performances all go to make Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama a really tedious film, even with Bauer and Brinke doing their very best to liven up proceedings with some full frontal nudity. Rather surprisingly, Quigley, who famously stripped nude for Return Of The Living Dead, remains clothed throughout.

Roger Corman's influence is all over Hollywood. One of the many to be given their start by Corman is the director of this stupid movie. His name is David DeCoteau and for some reason he's been allowed to make stupid movies to this very day. Good for him.The movie was made for a little under 100k and it's hard to say what this money was spent on. It wasn't lights that's for sure. Everything is cloaked in black having been lit by a couple dozen desk lamps. Basically some babes initiate some other babes into a barely populated sorority (there are three members it seems). Instructed by the sorority babes, the prospective babes with schmuck guys in tow set out to rob a bowling alley which is a lot of fun because there's an imp hidden inside the trophy they need to steal. UH OH. The imp goes all Wishmaster on the crew, a punk babe shows up, and that's when I mostly lost interest. The movie tries its hand at some lame referential nods. A girl who resembles Elsa Lanchester in The Bride of Frankenstein, that sort of thing. Fred Dekker did this kind of stuff better in Night of the Creeps. That's a great movie there. So we have babes and nerds and an 'imp'. Add to this an exploitation workhorse, the late George Flower, who shows up as a janitor - only he's not drinking (his character that is, I'm sure he was bolloxed on the set). Missed opportunity. He spends most of his time stuck in a closet and talking to himself. What a waste. In fact, that's basically what this movie is - a gigantic missed opportunity. If you're going to have close to zero production values with a cast drawn from the Herschell Gordon Lewis play book then just throw everything at it. Beheadings, torchings, foul language, casual cruelty, thrash metal. There's a dash of all this where it needed to just go nuts and empty the whole bag.Brinke Stevens is in this movie. She commands a bit of a (creepy) following. I have no clue why, but she is prolific. A better movie to laugh along with is one she appeared in a year before; Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity, one of the endless variations on The Most Dangerous Game. Cardboard set type junk but a lot more entertaining. There are way better movies of this kind out there. The pacing blows unless you count intermittant nudity for the hell of it. Nothing wrong with that but it's not enough to hang the movie on.Lines are delivered. Some of the dialogue is amusing but mostly it's bare bones half-assed exposition (they have to say something I guess). I did like the bit cribbed from Groucho Marx where a guy is getting laid into by Michelle Bauer and he says something like"If you were any closer I'd be behind you" "Oh you're so witty!" "Yeah but I stole that"And George Flower's line "f***, that's stuck tighter than a nun's c***" is cheerfully delivered. There was a sequel of sorts made in 1991 called Sorority Babes in the Dance-A-Thon of Death that's supposed to be even more boring. And whoever made that puppet: good try but no. Makes Rawhead Rex look Oscar worthy. With Linnea Quigley, Michelle Bauer, Robin Stille, Andras Jones

This is a totally fun cheezefest from the dude who brought us the much lamer CREEPAZOIDS. So some kids break into a bowling alley to steal a trophy as part of a sorority initiation. Unfortunately for them (and luckily for us) they accidentally a release a mischievous little imp and all hell breaks loose. The imp is hilarious! he's got a voice that sounds like a cross between Barry White and a pimp. Everything that comes out of his mouth is hella funny. Anyway enough of the plot, all you need to know is that this movie is way crucial to any 80's horror/b-movie lovers. it's got really cheesy special effects (we're talking TRICK OR TREAT territory here!), it delivers lots of laughs, and its got some nice nudity. Another major bonus is that its got scream queen Linea Quigley (you know the super hot naked punker slut from RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD) who is once again playing a hot rebellious punk babe. Unfortunately she doesn't get naked in this one but she's still rad. I think it's also got the fat pig punk rocker from NIGHT OF THE DEMONS. Anyway the only other thing missing is gore, otherwise it would have received a solid 10. Bottom line this is not to be missed!

The Imp (1988) is a good fun way to spend 78 minutes, it grabs you from the start with it's catchy upbeat opening music. The plot is about 2 girls who want to get into the best sorority around, to join the sorority they have to break into a shopping mall and steal a trophy from the bowling alley, the 2 girls are joined by 3 geeks who were caught spying on the girls having a shower in the sorority house!!! Once they get into the mall they discover Spider (Linnea Quigley), she is abit of a wild crude chick who happens to be robbing the joint, but she joins forces with the main geek Calvin to fight the evil forces of the Imp.The Imp (a little demon creature from hell) got released from the bowling trophy after one of the geeks dropped it, and he grants wishes for each member of the group, but the wishes go bad and people start getting killed off one by one, with only Calvin and Spider left, can they defeat the Imp and send him back to hell!! The Imp is a good fun low budget horror, it's got nudity from the sexy scream queens Michelle Bauer and Brinke Stevens and it's got the cutest scream queen Linnea Quigley kicking some Imp butt!! and the imp itself is hilarious, with that funny black guy voice of his!!! I give this movie 7/10, a good enjoyable b-movie with some gore, a funny script and interesting characters, the presence of the scream queens and the funny looking imp make it even more entertaining.
