The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Reviewed September 6th, 2015 - 1st viewing (Premium HD) Deciding to watch this film solely because Scarlett Johansson is in it, I did not expect much, and despite its fundamental flaws and childish script, it does have its moments. The plot is simple enough, with a 15-year-old Scarlett playing Kathy, the older sister to her annoying brother George. Scarlett does a great job fleshing her out as the bratty teen sister instigating her brother to get into trouble. When their parents go to France for a vacation, the nanny Matilda is left to babysit Kathy and George. It is never really made clear as to why Kathy is so resentful of their nanny (played by Eva Mendes) other than the fact that she's happy all the time. The score is garish with loud, overpowering pieces that will make you plug your ears or fast forward. The screenplay seems to be written half by a child, and half by an underwhelmed adult, fluctuating between predictable and cheesy. There is a heart at its core, and it does have its moments of lucidity. Freud (Alex D. Linz), George's best friend, adds some levity to the idiosyncrasies. While lacking in development, you are shown briefly that Kathy is an outcast, ostracized by classmates with little to no friends, so her brother's antics would only serve to fuel her anger more. When Matilda's crystals turn George into a pig and they have to go on a road trip to visit Matilda's aunt in Mexico, Kathy has an outburst that made me cringe (well done by a young Scarlett—you really believe she's that venomous). However as she explores the town to get away and befriends two young Mexican girls who idolize her, it's refreshing to see her open up when she feels accepted and highly regarded. She comes back to center and saves the day in time with the ridiculous antagonist of a local butcher chasing them after they have to free George from his stable. If possible, the end gets a little more ridiculous with them getting home in time to wash the car when they were only about 2 minutes ahead of their parents. The film certainly could have done a much better job exploring Kathy's feelings of inadequacy and isolation, instead pandering to a younger audience.FINAL VERDICT: Despite the silly premise, it did have its moments, particularly allowing Scarlett to shine in some scenes. However overall a missed opportunity to explore the older sibling's struggle to redefine their role in the family and maintain a healthy relationship with their parents.4.0 of 10.0

When a mysterious spell transforms a young teenager's bratty little brother into a pig while their parents are on vacation, their only hope for restoring the hoofed youngster back to his human form is to take a trip south of the border in this supernatural comedy for the whole family starring Scarlett Johansson entitled,My Brother The Pig.It co- stars Judge Reinhold, Alex D. Linz and Eva Mendes.A boy named George is magically transformed into a pig. In a dangerous and crazy adventure, the boy, his sister, Kathy, his best friend Freud, and their college housekeeper, Matilda leave for Mexico to try to undo the witchcraft before their parents return from their Paris trip. While gathering ingredients in order for Matilda's grandmother, Berta, to undo the spell, Kathy grows impatient and after insulting both Matilda and Berta, storms off into town, where she befriends two Mexican girls who speak English and have satellite TV. Meanwhile, Freud accidentally loses George to a butcher. With Kathy and her friends, they try to rescue George, in the process of angering the butcher. They are able to get George to Coyote Mountain, under a full moon phase, where a potion has been prepared to return George to normal. Unfortunately, the butcher had followed them, just as the ritual had begun. Matilda and Berta dose the butcher with the potion, turning him into a vulture, while George is restored to normal. This is a funny movie that would make one really laugh. But unfortunately,it is one silly movie for kids and nothing more. The only thing is presents basically is it presents Scarlett Johansson in one of her early roles in her film career.

Caught this on Showtime last month.. with kids, 8, 9, 13. They wanted to save it on our DVR so it must be good. I enjoyed watching it more than most crud that the kids make me watch (over the hedge, firehouse dog, Barbie movie) and the cast was like a whose who of Hollywood. Fun comedy, good animals and original. Good family flick. It's not going to change the world, but it's solid family entertainment that I could watch also. There's also a kid (Disney kid?) that is the smart kid that is really likable. Eva Mendes is fun, and sexy, also. Scarlett looks just the same as an adult. They are showing it daily it seems. Catch it.

OK-- so rented this because my son loves pigs and I love Eva Mendes, and I have to tell you I actually enjoyed it with my kids and laughed (out loud) twice and that's a lot for me.This movie is a surprise and a lot better then many films that I've rented with my kids (and I've seen them all). Does anyone know if this was in the theaters--it looks feature budget and score is great.Rent it and be surprised--not you usually stupid family fare. There are some lines that are very adult, but they went over my kids' heads and I laughed out loud. Scarlett Johannssen rocks too in this film and looks amazing!
