Fantastic!
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
That's it? A documentary of The Simpsons in the past 20 years? Come on Groening you could've done a million things for this! Instead you give us an episode about Krusty getting married? What a load of crap! Now to be fair, it was kind of interesting to learn about stuff about The Simpsons that not many people know about. But still I think they could've put a lot more effort into it. Actually, to be honest I kinda liked it. But I don't think that many people will watch a boring documentary about the series. Knowing the attention span of some people. They'll shut it off after 5 minutes. In short it could've been a lot better. Here's to another 20 years!
I've been a fan of The Simpsons for many years.I own all the season box sets that have been released so far, countless Simpsons toys and action figures. So being a Simpsons fan I tuned in last night to "The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special In 3D On Ice". It was a great documentary that not only examines the history of the show but it's devoted fans. After seeing all the hardcore fans in this documentary, I knew I wasn't the ultimate fan.The only problem I have with this documentary is that Dan Castellaneta only appeared once.I mean come on he portrays one of the funniest characters in TV history and he only appeared once!! But besides that this was a well made documentary that should be seen by every Simpsons fan.
What a waste of time and effort. This special was poorly made and spent a lot of time "trying" to be funny and coming up extremely short of laughter and originality. Travelling the world to find Simpsons collectors was absolutely boring and uninspired. Having Sting talk about life without the Simpsons was a terrible concept. Having the unfunny Conan O'Brian say anything was a mistake and not needed. There was very few interesting tidbits about the creation of the Simpsons or their development over the last 20 years. This special was an awful idea that tried to be a parody of the Simpsons show, but it lacked any concept of humor and felt like it lasted forever. Boring and terribly written--this special should be avoided.
