Such a frustrating disappointment
Simply Perfect
Good story, Not enough for a whole film
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
This is not a good movie. This is awful. It is not scary. It has an awful story line. The title give away the ending so it has an awful ending. Do not see this movie. Aliens are trying to end world because they do like. Because people are always each other. Better kill all the people so they do not like them slaves. This is one of worst science fiction movies ever. Do not see it.
This film gets a bad rep on this page here. Personally, I didn't think it was that bad at all. The main problem with End of the World (as every other review lets you know) is perhaps the movie's rudimentary script and the lack of trying to keep its audience stimulated. Though I do think it also works to the film's advantage. The absence of action scenes and special effects combined with the often abysmal lighting creates a pretty cool ominous atmosphere. The soundtrack plays a big part here; without the dark, droning electronic ambiance and sound effects this movie would surely turn to a chore to sit through. But there I was, end credits rolling, wide-awake and alert. In retrospect, a lot of the scenes were absolutely pointless, not bringing the ultra-simple plot forward (the story is seriously that of a 30-minute short film). Don't expect interesting characters, escaping tidal waves, thrilling suspense, lasers.... Here's what you get: a few explosions, stock footage and a cool set towards the end of the film. Deal with it, or go watch Star Wars.If you don't mind low-key cinema, give End of the World a try. A lot of people here seemed to be expecting a disaster movie, given the title. This is essentially a movie that does not care about your thirst for vibrant cinema. It's cheap 70s science fiction. Oh yeah, and Christopher Lee is great as always!
well the first 30 minutes had me into the movie, I thought it was gonna be pretty good,, then they just had to bring the whole church and religion into it, and therefore just ruined the picture for me.. Christopher Lee wasn't really that good either. I did however like the earth blowing up scene .. that was cool. the picture moved so slow I thought I was gonna die of boredom, in the beginning you had the scientist angle,, trying to decode messages from aliens,, and then an underground military bunker so I thought hey this might be pretty good,, then they receive some kind of signal from a convent they investigate and nothing,, so far so good, then later they go back to the convent and the movie just went down the tubes from there I totally hated the rest.
This movie was not as bad as many of the critics whom filled out the IMDb.com review suggest. Its main flaw is it take a long time to develop, and there are Dominique like voids of dialogue where the actors must carry the scene with body language.Christopher Lee portrays the main antagonist, a priest who was kidnapped then cloned by aliens who seek to both destroy the Earth (so its diseases cannot spread across the galaxy) and to return to their home planet, in which there is no war, disease or famine.None of the other actors did a particularly good job. Dean Jagger, whom portrays the male protagonist is okay at best, and the female lead is played by Sue Lyon. She is not the best actress of her time, and cannot carry her silent scenes very well compared to Lee or Jagger. Not that Lee or Jagger did exceptionally in this case, but it is a LOT to ask of an actor to carry a silent scene. The plot is very "Twilight Zone", the special effects and sound effects seem to come straight out of the old television Star Trek series.A scene where Jagger removes a contraption the aliens need to return home, in fact, looks almost 100% like the scene that Star Trek 2 the Wrath of Khan would sue when Spock is attempting to fix the ship's warp drive. Eerily similar. Some shots are very Kubrickian featuring drawn back and isolated shots. The story is fair to good, if not very slow to develop. This film lacked about 2 to 3 'steps' to make it a success, but its not a bad way to spend a couple hours.
