Salman Khan's lean phase was during this time of his career, despite ending his flop streak with Wanted in 2009. He continued to give flops and a disaster until Dabangg which was the start of his blockbuster period. Salman Khan is one of the finest actors in Bollywood but this film was not the right kind of film for him. He does much better in Masala action films like Wanted and comedies like Partner. He even did much better films in the 90s but films like Veer brought his career down.Veer was an extremely hyped up movie, people were excited because it was supposed to be the next Gadar(2001). Sadly, all that hype was for nothing and yes, many people got disappointed. The film did average in single screens but it failed to show any growth at the multiplexes. Even at single screens, the collections dropped and the film became a disaster. The story of the film is actually not a bad effort, but the handling and the flow of the story is not up to mark. The start was good and Salman's entry was superb. However, the forced comedy and the romance doesn't fit well with the story. The second half goes downhill, its like they had an average first half and a horrible second half. The second half of the film focuses on revenge and how it is executed in a poor way. The ending is hilariously bad, Salman Khan gets shot but dies after a long battle. It is so messed up and it doesn't make sense how Khan doesn't die. Plus, the typical Father Vs Son nearing the ending where Mithun and Salman are forced to fight is straight out of 90s movies.Direction by Anil Sharma is poor, he seems to be stuck in his Hukumat days. These kind of films would have worked if they released earlier but, the film had to release now.Salman Khan is not at his best here, he overacts badly in some scenes but acts well in the action scenes. Sohail Khan is horrible in this film, he overacts in everything from comedy to sorrow. Zarine Khan is good looking but her acting is poor, her expressions are not well timed. Mithun Chakraborty does a fantastic job, he is the life of the film. Jackie Shroff is average, he is the villain. The rest provide average support. On the whole, Veer is an average film at its best. It wasn't an awful film but it wasn't anything great either.

I think this movie was great, I don't watch Indian movies in general but I saw this on TV and it was dubbed in another language. It caught my attention as I am very fond of costume dramas, it reminded me a little of Troy. I eventually got the movie and watched it. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.The movie was amazing even with the plot holes and inaccuracies. I love Salman's character, the tough love, strong roots and confidence. If nothing else it gives hope, even through fiction. I don't think the movie was written as a historical masterpiece or to be accurate but set in colonial times to give it realism. Salman has taken fact and fiction and written a story which is easy enough to relate with. I think it's a good effort, and hope to see more movies like this from Indian cinema. The ending leaves behind a sadness but in some ways it is perfect.

Veer is among the worst movies in History of Indian film industry. What was Anil Sharma thinking when he was making this mess made up with Dharamveer,Mard and Gadar ? Acting - Salman Khan was very disappointing. He was totally miscast as royal warrior. Zarine Khan does okay considering her debut. Sohail Khan is really awful and irritating. Mithun Chakraborty does it well but sometimes he tends to go OTT Jackie Shroff failed to give justice to his role. Other bunch of actors (Neena Gupta,Yuri Suri) were nothing great.Story - The film really had no story to begin with.It was just mishmash of warrior films from 70s and 80s.Direction - Direction by Anil Sharma was pathetic. This is not same guy who made highly entertaining Gadar.Music - Okay (nothing great) but still better than some of crappy music of this age.Overall - A Pathetic movie.Avoid it all cost.
