good back-story, and good acting

Absolutely Fantastic

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

SPOILER: What could be better than a weekend in the country with the love of your life? How about a weekend in the country with a little sadism, rape and murder thrown in? "Blood Hunt" starts off very slowly but soon deteriorates into a senseless gorefest when our hero and his lady run into a group of ne'er-do-wells who take them captive after a car chase. She is raped and he is nearly murdered. The bad guys are not simply bad but dumb, because they keep letting them escape. The final escape does not go well because half-way to the nearest hospital and police station - probably a few hundred miles in this part of Australia - she realises how badly she is wounded. He doesn't, because if any normal man had been subjected to what he has been through, he would be half-dead by now, but somehow he manages to...so what's a guy to do after his good lady dies in his arms? You guessed, the only thing possible: revenge.The soundtrack to this film is reasonable, but when you've said that, you've said it all. In recent years, the Australians have produced not a few films in this vein. Sadly, most of them suck. Certainly this one does.

OK ~ I will begin by admitting some of the acting lacks some pizazz especially at the beginning. Whether it was the script or the actor/actress I am unsure. However.....don't let that turn you off! If you want something a little different (not a typical horror fright fest of jumps), and you can handle some confronting violence then it's quite a good flick given the budget. I'm looking forward to watching for more works from this up and coming writer/producer/director and seeing what's to come. PS ~ very good performance by the lead as well! It certainly hasn't let the recent great Horror Flicks coming from Oz down. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's one I would watch again.

Don't get the negative reviews? It is what it is, and for what it is... 'a low budget bloodbath revenge movie' it hits the mark. Well enough acted and decently paced. OK it might not be 'Citizen Kane' or 'The Whisperers', but if you're in the mood for a quick and to the point piece of violent retribution, then this movie fits the bill splendidly. 8/10 for me.

The one other reviewer (at this time),obviously has no clue about the Aussie 'MACHO' culture,the bad guys in this movie are the epitome of that culture in the way they speak,dress and act,a trip to any town in Australia will prove my point,so in fact the "bad guys"in this movie do an admirable and pretty accurate portrayal of the typical Aussie bogan. What he wants in a rape scene is beyond me,I find the rape scene in this movie all the more horrifying in its simplicity and creepiness,leaving the viewer to the horror of their imagination with the added horror of the female leads reactions and facial expressions.When the real action starts it is short,sharp,swift and very,very brutal,no need for imagination here,it is all laid out right in front of you in gory and bloody detail.The two leads,Kahli Williams and Dean Kirkright did a great job of acting and were convincing enough for me to give this movie 8 stars,I honestly enjoyed it and any fan of this genre of movie will also.
