Funny, strange, confrontational and subversive, this is one of the most interesting experiences you'll have at the cinema this year.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

Fallon (James Horan) apparently omitted many pages in the book of "how to become a good cop", but despite his drug addiction, aggression and corruption, he manages to make progress in his investigation when a series of murders is caused by a supernatural killer. After his dark sides were portrayed excessively, the good sides appear somewhat unexpected, for example at the university when he conducts his research very politely. Lance Henriksen, confined to a wheelchair, plays a gangster with more courage than the others ("Don't think I'm gonna run from you" - good taste?), when Fallon seeks assistance from criminals rather than his colleagues. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, they say. Certainly the movie has got a few good ideas and actors, plus great locations at Buenos Aires - but everything is somewhat crude and overdone. Too many victims end up in body-bags, while the investigation is sloppy and slow, since the cops care more about their personal dislikes. The music is deliberately monotonous, looping the same dark chords to infinity, which might give a sinister atmosphere to a thrilling story, but alas, the story of "Dying God" does not pull it off, trying to please genre fans with the occasional sick stuff instead of providing a better explanation for the nature and character of the 'god'. Besides, the poor dubbing didn't make it any better.

First you must know that i love "Z-grade movies" "thrash cinema" "crap movies" and "no budget". I like movies like Violent Sh#t, Cannibal Capout, Zombie Bloosbath, Sadomaster, Ozone...you know, bottom of the barrel shot on video stuff....Dying God is in the same category of those films. Its cheap, its looks bad, its very bad acted, the editing sucks. The problem is that this movie is very boring. Dying God tries too hard to be "serious" or something like that (the "comedy" moments are really unfunny ones). The movie is about a cop that investigates a series of killings. Its insane to talk about "plot" here. Not enough gore and skin here to save this mess. Misty Mundae is dressed all the movie, so imagine. Lance Henriksen denigrates himself by making a cameo here. 2/10

The monster idea was the best part of the film and what made it watchable. The film has an interesting idea, but that's pretty much where it ends. The acting and oddity of listening to to a mix of English and French accented English in a South American industrial city is a bit too much. Sort of like watching it filmed in a French Canadian province for a story that's supposed to take place in Brazil. The lack of fit gave it that b-movie/TV quality despite a good soundtrack and believable FX.The director and caster get responsibility for it. The stereotypical dirty cop, hookers, relationships, cigarettes, and drugs just didn't fit. It all seemed forced. Too many easy fixes that irritated me and took my focus away from the story.

If you started off with the premise that you could make one of the worst films ever whilst talking to a group of ten year old school kids, and then wrote a script together with them that contained no original dialogue, a plot that was predictable in every way possible and then cast a bunch of incompetent actors (Even Henriksen is bad in this one!), mix it together with an absurd blend of clichés and some bare breasts, then this is what you would probably end up with. Some films are so bad that they're good fun. The trash aesthetic and all that, but this one is just trash. Rubbish. Truly and utterly awful. The only thing that kept me watching was the vague hope that it couldn't get any worse. But at least it didn't disappoint in that respect. The score was good. And there you have the one and only redeeming factor for this execrably bad, fetid piece of tripe.Cheers, Will
