Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
Final Scream is like The Incredible Hulk's archenemy, an abomination. There is nothing else to call it without resorting to severe verbal abuse. Here are the reasons why it should've won numerous razzies.1) When I bought this in a shop, little over a year ago, I knew it was a cheap cash-in on 'Scream'. What I didn't expect was that the film was so cheap that it's whole budget could've been made on the £1 I bought it for. The sets are minimal and bland looking. The killer's mask looks like something out of children's show 'Art Attack'. The acting is terrible. The writing is cliché riddled and the killer's identity is frankly obvious within the first 10 minutes. Also its advised that if anyone does watch it and suffer from migraines or severe seizures then skip the opening titles as the screen gets VERY BLURRY.2) Another thing is that when the murders happen, you can't see a thing. In other words you might as well close your eyes. I did that and tried counting sheep jumping a fence. Trust me this is a cheap cash-in of the 'Scream' franchise. A franchise it bears no resemblance to in all but word.
A wealthy group of recent college grads are invited to participate in a "murder mystery" game. It begins as a fun evening of scary stunts featuring rubber knives, fake blood, and a "murderer" played by an actor in a creepy mask. But when the body count becomes real, the players soon realize that one of them is a real killer and the rest of them are playing an altogether different game...to stay alive.Final Stab is a pretty decent horror flick made in 2001. The acting by the main characters is pretty good for a B movie. There is a little bit of blood and no nudity. Overall I would recommend this to any slasher fan I guess. Don't expect this to be very scary cause it's not one of those "on the edge of your seat" horror movies. About half way through I was able to figure out who the killer was. It's a watchable thriller with minimum gore.5/10
Once again David D. brings his own special brand of homo teasing into his work. I say that because it is clear that homo erotic elements are not really present in this film. Certainly not like David's past endeavors, Brotherhood, Voodoo Acadeny et, al. None-the-less in smaller doses it's all David. We are treated to one hunky stud in his FTLS and a brief (no pun intended) conversation between two other hunks in the eleventh hour of the script. A conversation I might add that if fully explored might have made this a different, albeit, better film. The Parker Posey look alike Antagonist hosts "April Fool's Day" on property a zillion miles away from civilization. Okay. It's probably Friday the 13th too. Actors are hired to propel a weak scheme that our host wants to develop a "mystery murder weekend" service. Everyone's in on the gag but her sweet sister (there's a hint of sibling problems) and host's ex-boyfriend who is now sweet sister's sweetheart. But wait just when you think Host wants to doom sister, a second possibility is hinted at in a conversation about between the ex-boyfriend and one of the many gay men at the party. Seems those two men had a thing for each at one time. Hmmmm. I've overused the word hint. And that's the problem with the entire movie -- it only hints at things. Even at the end it hints that there is more information lurking beneath the surface of these shallow characters. But only a hint. As if someone didn't want to commit to a harder edged plot line and instead just hints at what should be fully explained. Like Japanese food, an hour after eating, you can't quite remember what it was you ate, and this movie leaves you empty by its conclusion, thirsting for more than just a hint of plot, motivations and character development. And lastly, David, can't you give us a male butt shot once in a while.
Final Stab was a delightfully pathetic movie. It reminded me of the videos made in my high school film class. That aside, it had potential. The slasher idea, while about as used a week old kitty litter, still has potential to produce "that movie"....another scream (the original). If this script was tossed to John Sayles for a couple weeks it could have been worked into a good piece of work. The potential lied mostly in the fact that it was a murder mystery party, so the victims walked right into there deaths, not expecting anything but a rubber knife and fake blood. The part that killed it was, by far, the writing. Even without changing a thing about story, good writing could have made it more bearable. My friend commented that he thought it was bad acting, but I felt the actors did quite well stumbling over all that awkward dialogue. The villianous sister, played by Erinn Carter is a quite talented actress. She movied onto the Sitcom/improv show "On the spot" with Tim Conway. There she does an excellent job in flexing her comedic muscles. One last comment on the film, while the ending was semi-predictable, I was pleased how it was incorporated. It was the ending that a good slasher filck should have had.
