It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

Considering how cheaply this movie was made, it's not bad for what it is. The plot line is that an android made with transistor radio parts is shot into space only to be shot down by some bizarre looking aliens, who've come to Earth because they've run out of women, except for their princess played by a playboy model. So with lots of budget constraints and stock footage to fill out the rest, we have this film. It drags in a lot of places, but you do get to see those awesome 1960's bikinis on women who were amazingly sanguine about the whole alien abduction thing. Pretty much everything is from the Ed Wood Playbook of how to make films with no budget. Stock footage, only do one take, don't bother getting people who can act.

*Spoiler/plot- Frankenstein meets the Space Monster, 1965, Martian invaders with their queen are exploring our solar system. Martian invaders prepare an Earth attack as NASA sends a rocket to Mars manned by a android astronaut. Mistaking the exploration rocket for an attacking warhead missile, the aliens fire on the launching rocket and send the android back to Earth in a fiery crash. The android pilot is damaged with heavy computer & facial trauma and the NASA man-like pilot goes on a murderous rampage throughout Puerto Rico's beach areas. The aliens land and make-off with beach babes as breeding stock for their planet, Mars. The rampaging pilot and alien patrols converge on a beach pool party with disastrous results.*Special Stars- Marilyn Hanold, Lou Cutell, Bruce Glover, James Karen, Nancy Marshall *Theme- Andriods are not always your friends despite their helpful NASA programming.*Trivia/location/goofs- B&W, American, Look for Bruce Glover(Diamonds are Forever 'baddie' and famous Hollywood acting coach) in a dual role as alien Martian invader and the Space Monster. The Space MOnster suit was a re-issue use from the fine Crash Corriganville film called, "It, the Terror from outer Space". This film is supposedly in the TOP 50th worst films ever made. The Martian alien spaceship rooms have ceiling fluorescent tube lights and walls made of obvious plywood especially in the beach babe 'purification room'. The NASA scientists leave in a B-52 bomber. However, the plane they land in is a Boeing C-135. Flight change?*Emotion- A very enjoyable "bad" B-movie with the climatic ray-gun-firing battle between android and the Martian Space monster. True campy fun of the post 50's with all the trimmings: bikinis, music, cars, airplanes, and clothing.

Aliens from a planet devastated by an atomic war seek Earth women for new breeding stock to re-populate their nearly extinct species(..looking human with costumes reminiscent of the old Flash Gordon serials from long ago)landing in their little space pod on a stretch of land in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Princess Marcuzan(Marilyn Hanold, wearing a funny hat) & her lieutenant Dr. Nadir(Lou Cutell, with an applied dome and pointy ears)have their men interrupting NASA's series of take-offs by blowing their space vehicles to pieces. One such interruption messes up scientist Adam Steele's(a young James Karen of "Return of the Living Dead" fame)mandroid operating the vessel, creating a fusion of hysteria, confusion, and mania, while also badly damaging one side of Frank's(Robert Reilly)face. Frank comes across several innocent bi-standers trying to defend themselves, killing the folks by strangulation or machete(..one fellow was chopping wood, attempting to defend himself and being hacked to death in the process, off-screen)while traveling incoherently from one place to the next with seriously troubled programming that needs repairing. Steele and his assistant Karen(Nancy Marshall, who cares for Frank)travel with military man, General Bowers(David Kerman)to San Juan where Frank was located..the exact same place where the alien ship had landed. While kidnapping bikini-clad hotties touring the beaches or go-go dancing, Princess and Nadir test their captive women for "purification" while Steele and Karen find Frank really in a worsening state. Karen is told to go for help while Steele works on his creation but she is kidnapped by Pricess' men and caged near their pet furry monster Mull. Seeking information from Karen, soon Steele and Frank find the whereabouts of the alien ship. Steele will have Frank stay near the ship as he goes to call Bowers to cease firing on the aliens for fear of killing innocent women inside. But, Princess' men drag Frank inside(why?)and leave him on a table unguarded while they plan to blast off in fear of suffering major damage. But, Frank has other plans and a battle with the beasty Mull will commence with hopes of Karen and the other captured girls hoping to escape.Terrible make-up effects, cheap sets, badly inserted archival footage, clumsy dubbing, and hilarious monster are either a glutton of punishment or amusement for the viewer. Hanold and Cutell seem to know what kind of movie they're stuck in, and, as the evil alien leaders, play their roles with a sense of fun..a tongue-in-cheek attitude by them, with Hanold stuck in a funny costume and Cutell in silly alien make-up, they are able to chew scenery. I especially enjoy the homo-erotic sequence where Hanold's Princess is getting a good look at one of her collected specimens as Nadir grins widely. Reilly walks around in a stooper, with a silly-putty face disfigurement for a large portion of the film, when he isn't attacking some poor soul. His fight with the monster is a real hoot. Fans of Ed Wood and Grade-Z schlock will get a kick out of this more than anyone else. There's no reason why Frankenstein's name should even be mentioned in this movie or it's title. Used probably to sucker viewers to the drive-ins to see it.Some 60's songs and odd musical arrangements are layered throughout this disaster of a film. This is indeed a turkey sure to delight fans of rancid cinema.

Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster (1965) 1/2 (out of 4) An astronaut named Frank crashes his rocket in Purto Rico. At the same time a group of aliens are landing there looking for beautiful women to mate with. Soon Frank, now a deformed monster, must fight their monster dragon. This was one of my most wanted films on DVD because I had been wanting to see this film since a kid but it turned out to be a real disaster. The film has always had a reputation of being bad but I was hoping it would at least give me a few campy laughs but sadly that didn't happen. The film was just downright bad and not in a good way. The monster at least looks interesting and that's the only reason this thing doesn't get a lower rating.
