This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama

The film Contagion was entertaining, and nothing more. The effects were pathetic, everyone who had the virus had the same exact little dot that showed that they were "sick" just placed in a different location on the arm. The actors were pathetic as well, I've never even heard of or seen most of them before. The storyline was semi-believable to the extent that a disease causing agent could be delivered by a dart gun and it could mutate to become much more harmful. However had the disease gone airborne millions would have died within days, and there would be no bomb powerful enough to incinerate it. Despite flawed science, poor acting, and limited effects (though I must say the helicopter blowing up was awesome) the movie was entertaining, it did hold the audiences attention with some drama, some believability, and of course, some explosions.

The acting in Contagion was not top notch but it was above any other made for TV movies I have seen recently. It was a shame to see such good actors given such a bad script, full of clichés. Every turn the movie took was expected with the exception of the final showdown between the villain and the heroine (but only because it was so ridiculous that no one would have ever expected it). As for the science in the movie, it was surprising that Dr. Landis had such a tolerance to the chemical bath she took her suit off in. The fact that she took off her suit in the first 10 seconds of it really didn't make it hard to see she was going to catch Ebola as well. The script writer obviously just googled a lot of the science and picked what he thought would look cool or sound good. I remember at one point the head bodyguard was touching the tip of the dart and he did not catch Ebola; come on! The other really big problem the movie had was coincidence. The movie was full of it. Wow, we are lucky the best virologist was so close. Wow you went to Rwanda and you got sick. Good thing there was an extra springing tube lying around on the roof. Man am I lucky I remembered my scalpel. Need I say more? Finally, the ending was plain horrible. This is definitely what kept this movie out of theatres. The producer that thought a giant spring knocking the villain off the roof should have all his or her money taken away. The idea is simply dumbfounding. Slinkys don't kill people!!!

Leaving you with a feeling as if you've just gone through a spontaneous lobotomy, "Contagion" directed by John Murlowski gives off the token aura of a made-for-TV movie. A plot shallower than a kiddie-pool and character development mirroring that of a bed-time story combine to make the perfect recipe of mediocrity. The cast starring Bruce Boxleitner and Megan Gallagher give little depth other than an awkward "chemistry" which leaves you rolling your eyes. The most notable appearance is Lin Shaye who most recently starred in Snakes on a Plane (2006) but other than this exception, the cast have seldom seen the big stage and understandably so. The most prominent feature of this movie is unarguably the low-budget feel which it gives off which one can't help but notice. While watching the movie you'll find yourself in a constant state of deja-vu. "Every breath you take could be your last." sounds like a welcoming fate as the 93 minutes pass by before you.

OK. so let me just start off by saying that the movie was hilarious because there were so many stupid and open-ended sections that were like "what the crap were they thinking???" Also, how does "the best" doctor that the "DDS' has get to the President so fast and do a 180 from hating him to loving him in about 40 hours and not to mention none of them slept but made it through the whole movie just fine. The actors/actress were definitely sub-par and sucked it up big time. There was virtually no high point to the movie except for when the credits began to role. In short it was funny, somewhat educational on what not to do around Ebola, and stupid all at the same time.
