The 2 stars are for the special effects; everything is pretty horrible. The actors? stink. The dialogue is unintentionally hilarious. and the production values, outside of the promising special effects are not even as good as Plan 9 From Outer Space. The actors are worse than Bela Lugosi. The Day Time Ended should have ended one hour or so before I saw this turkey. This was made in 1980? (1979). It looks like it was made much earlier. Before the inventions of scripts.

When 'Charles Band Productions' comes up in the opening credits it gives a clue as to this film's content: Band's B-movies have always tended to focus on low-rent special effects over the necessities of plotting and dialogue. As it turns out, THE DAY TIME ENDED is one of the most plot less films I've ever watched; it tells a story via action with no real explanation as to what's going on. At the end you'll be scratching your head and wondering what you watched. What story there is begins with a rural family meeting up in a remote desert house. This reunion soon descends into calamity with the arrival of mini alien spaceships and even a few flesh-and-blood critters who seem intent on wreaking havoc. It's all to do with some strange alignment in outer space, but other than that I really had no idea what was going on...or, indeed, who the 'good' aliens and 'bad' aliens were.As is typical for a low-budget B-movie, hardly any attention is given to the performances, although there are a surprising number of familiar faces in the cast. Jim Davis and Dorothy Malone bring gravitas as the old-timers, Robert Mitchum's lad Chris shows up, and the little girl from THE ENTITY and THE AMITYVILLE HORROR has a major role. The special effects are pretty ropey, although I always enjoy stop motion no matter what, but it is all rather silly and ends up descending into farce at the climax. John 'Bud' Cardos made some great little films in the 1970s like KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS and THE DARK, but this ain't one of them!

I did not think this was that bad a movie. Yeah it was kind of hokie but at least it was entertaining. A family moves to a new house in the desert. An eerie green pyramid shows up, I guess caused by the light from three simultaneous novas from a couple hundred years ago. Aliens start showing up, including an obvious one that is claymation, but it seems friendly enough. Strange things happen as the aliens keep appearing in their space crafts. One thing that is really nice to see is the adults treat the oldest boy like a grown up, having him help out instead of telling him to stay inside or stay away. The girl appears to be the key to everything as she has a now miniaturized pyramid in her possession and it seems to respond to her wishes, stopping the car, chilling the burning door, etc. Jim Davis and Dorothy Malone play the grandparents and do a good job. I have liked them both for many years and thought they never really got the credit they deserved. Then the monsters start showing up and they are claymation also. Now in 1979 it would seem they could have done a lot better with the special effects. It is interesting that the power for the property seems to come and go. It works some times but not others. One funny scene is when one of the monsters actually knocks on the front door of the house!!!! Towards the end of the film the house is transported to a locale that seems very Bermuda Trianglish, old derelict planes, wrecked vehicles from who knows where, etc. The green pyramid shows up again and stops whatever is going on but the mother and the little girl disappear into a vortex. Are they gone for ever??? Well the mom shows up and tries to explain things, then the girl shows up. This is a very uneven and poorly plotted movie but I still found it interesting.

*Spoiler/plot- 1979, The Day Time Ended, A family moves into a house in a remote area. They are treated to several confusing mental and temporal 'flashbacks" about aliens invading their planet and time.*Special Stars- Jim Davis plays the father and Dorothy Malone plays the mom.*Theme- Badly done alien invasion theme.*Based on- Science fiction of the 70's.*Trivia/location/goofs- This film has many intelligible disjointed film scenes that does not move the plot forward clearly and leaves the viewer totally bored and confused on those matters.*Emotion- This film is utterly confusing and quite bad. Avoid it at all costs. It makes no sense and is a waste of your time.
