Just perfect...
I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
A woman, her son and a friend of hers take the ashes of her recently deceased husband to the top of a mountain they use to frequent. Things go well until a strange man wearing sunglasses begins to stalk them. This one is a slow burner with some decent dialogue and character building but remains mediocre as far as the story goes. A couple of parts may make you cringe and you may wonder how this guy can see out of his glasses at night, but just keep an open mind.Nothing too earth shattering but not completely boring either.
You'd have to be desperate to watch this so-called horror movie. The 13-year-old boy had no personality, which might be why you don't care what happens to him. There was definitely something wrong, this should have been a nail-biter. Rather than take sleeping pills, watch this flick, you'll be asleep in no time. The best lines were given to the stalker...he didn't have any.
This movie was like a mish mash of Fight Club combined with Hal Holbrook's famed "Rituals" from the old days. The son accepted death dealing brutality upon someone evil that killed an innocent family friend, so he & the mother could make it out of there alive. As time goes by audiences will reject the falsity of the P.C. movement IMO & embrace the cold harsh reality of the real World once more.
Going into Desolation I had no idea what to expect, it was a nameless pick & mix movie for me.It tells the story of a pair of friends and a teenage boy who go hiking in the woods only to be stalked by a mysterious figure in black. It's very paint by number stuff but is done well enough to be entertaining. Our delightful stalker has no gimmick, he has no motivation and I really didn't like that. This Rob Zombie looking git had no character at all which hurt the film.Ultimately it delivers provided you aren't seeking originality or surprises. Its copy and paste the movie with every cliche in the book, but is just good enough to get past that. The Good:Well madeFairly tenseDecent finaleThe Bad:Nothing originalDull antagonistThings I Learnt From This Movie:Maybe the killers motive was that kid being really annoying
