Highly Overrated But Still Good
Don't listen to the Hype. It's awful
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Casanovva might not have pleased the fans, understandable for it isn't an out & out action flick, neither does it have the comic flavor to tickle our ribs! Rather its an amazing romantic thriller, think about it, how often do u get the blend of those two elements!! Yes, it's stylish and racy too. But i really loved the romantic part, the transition which Casanovva goes through could have been better scripted, but i don't think i have seen dramatic scenes without a pinch bit of surrealism in any Malayalam movies - exception comes in form of classics, but rarely do we see romantic threads in such movies. The songs were melodic and catchy and peppy, though i awed at the intro song which was a bit inane. I was thoroughly disappointed that the track "sakhiye nin" wasn't there in the movie. The climax wasn't the best to be which i think is only the weak link. The locales weren't much aberrant as commented by my friends, nowadays even Tamil movies show them all. That said Malayalam movie with such stylishness and raunchiness is too good to miss! LALETTAN rocked as usual, shriya was good, and so were the others. Rosshan Andrews needs a standing ovation for presenting it neat, Sanjay & Bobby's screenplay wasn't crispy, but its so stupid to compare their works, Casanovva was written right after "NoteBook" and then came "Traffic" & unlike popular belief I don't think they are one time wonder. Also read many a time that the second half was lifted from "Engeyum Kadhal". Well, This movie was written 3 years back, and in that case it should be the other way. :-DPersonally, I would keep this movie close to my heart - of course I wouldn't endorse the movie to serious movie critics or to insane guys who claim to be a member of some fans association. For those who love to spend 3 hours on wholesome entertainment, this is a one time watch at least. Romance, Action, Songs, Drama. A regaling cuisine with all ingredients you would fall in love with.
Casanovva:A stylish Flick by Roshan Andrrews. The most anticipated movie ever happened in Malayalam industry was directed by Roshan Andrrews written by Bobby&Sanjay. The movie deals about a man named Casanovva who is the owner of 'Casanovva eternal spring'which deals the international marketing of flowers.Casanovva is a man who was loved by girls&who loved girls.the main content of the film is that Casanovva's tries to catch 4 criminals. The movie is visual treatment with perfectly shot scenes& sensational&electrifying action sequence done by Alan Ameen.Jim Ganesh has done a spectacular job by creating some great visuals that will entertain you.though the storyline is not so bold the movie does not match up with it's expectations. But Casanovva sensational effort so that the crew of the film must be appreciated.in my view the casting was brilliant.i think Mohanlal is the only man who can do this character perfectly as this much.so he deserves applause. There are some who Criticises this film as this film 'harases lady community'must at least think about the movie &ask to his mind whether he could make a film like this. the well composed music&BGM shines the film more.the movie is one time worth watch and can entertain you in all sense.though it does not live up to expectations. but there is only one question that remains that does Roshan give importance to style than story line. verdict:stylish entertainer one time watch.
"Casanovva"is a stylish flick with some shabby screenplay and leaves a lot to be desired in the end. Mohanlal as the modern day mallu version of the Italian adventurer & author Giacomo Casanova shoulders the movie throughout. The playboy character wouldn't go down well with the conservative malayalee society, but i loved every bit of it, courtesy my fondness for western movies. The locations, The action scenes and the background score were all so stylish, probably the best in Malayalam movies. But what would that offer if it's all dunked in a rather poor script! And that's where Casanovva stoops as a passable affair! Well, blame it on the promotions and hype, not to mention the expectations! The music and cinematography needs special appreciation for giving us the exotic feel, dialogs in shades so rhetoric and rather inane at times, it takes irritatingly long to convince us the magic of love in the second half - should mention the magic didn't workout - and its unbelievably numb towards the end. The casting was okay, riyaz khan gets a meaty role and the others never outta place. I loved shriya saran for the first time sans skimpy outfits, the love chemistry with mohanlal was good. Boy oh boy! had it been made with suavity, the movie would have been magnificent. Fair enough, its still a watchable ride. Go fall in love...
movie delivers what it promises...a feel good romantic action thriller... mohanlal performs with ease he looks very cool.. n shreya sharan she was dam beautiful in the movie.. i guess she looks best in it.... action scenes are also taken well ... The biggest highlight of the movie is the scale in which it is made, with the plush cars, number of choppers , great locales, chartered planes and beautiful ladies all contributing to the finest looks ever in Mollywood, that may match the league to visual stunner's of Bollywood. Yes, this is an invitation from Mollywood that contest the big league of commercial players of India. The technical sides are top notch with Jim Ganesh contributing some finest visuals to the journey. Slick editing by Mahesh Narayanan also elevates the movie. But this cannot be told about the story lines, which indeed appear good in the initial reels. The first half pretty matches the expectations from the biggie, but in the later half while dealing with the lead man's original love with a salsa dancer named Sameera (Shriya Saran) who transforms him to a romantic than a womanizer, 'Casanovva' looks sulky and strained a bit. And since it is the first movie to appear in Mollywood with a totally distant thread and shot entirely in foreign locales, the movie does not pay heed to traditional meticulous demand of on lookers for logic, in each and every scene. Some of the duologue's penned by Sanjay-Bobby looks inviting enough as it matches the off screen image that the lead star propagates all through. The songs by three music directors just fit the bill, though the 'Alphonse track' Hey manohara theerame...' is a foot tapping material. The BG scores and theme score by Gopi sundar are also impressive SUPERHIT WRITTEN ALL OVER
