Horrors of War
HORRORS OF WAR derives from the "B" movie, Grindhouse tradition, made to play like a like a midnight movie. It is an independently-produced film made in a B-movie style, yet with a dramatic grounding and an eye toward bigger production values.......FILM SYNOPSIS: 'Feeling the pressure from Allied advance, Hitler unleashes his secret weapons giving rise to a type of warfare the world has never seen. Throughout the European theater of WWII, Lieutenant John Schmidt comes face to face with these "weapons." The Office of Strategic Services (O.S.S., precursor to the C.I.A.) initiates missions behind enemy lines to find the source of the weapons terrorizing U.S. soldiers fighting the Third Reich. Best movie of this year hands down!
A Surprisingly Unforgettable Movie!
A Disappointing Continuation
The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.
Slow and often laughable plot, could have used a ton of editing because it takes far too long to get from point A to point B and could have been much more streamlined had the editor been worth anything and the editing job not so lax. Some holes, even with the slow pacing, but for free (Amazon Prime) it was worth a watch. Don't expect a lot, but again...as long as you don't pay to see it, it's not as bad as most Horror/Zombie movies the indie gutter is cranking out.
The title of the film seemed appealing as well as the photograph of Hitler and his Nazi soldiers. They mentioned no such thing as zombies. Even if they did, it wasn't obvious. Right when it ended, I vowed never to watch it again; if anyone wants to make a film about war and historic points of view, then they just need to make it - and NOT involve anything that involves horror - such as zombies. I'm not a fan of horror films, and this one, I must say - pretty much narrows it down to what kind of film I think it is. Seeing Inglorious Basterds, Valkyrie, Saving Private Ryan, etc - they're nothing compared to this film. And where in the world was Hitler while the zombies were being 'murderous'? I saw no sign of him, whatsoever. Absolutely despicable film in my eyes. TO THOSE WHOM ARE WAR/HISTORY LOVERS OF THE FILM INDUSTRY: DO NOT BUY THIS FILM; IT'S A TOTAL WASTE.
This is the type of movie you see at the drive in or at 3:00 A.M. on U.S.A. network and we would love it. The acting stands out as realistic and intense. The special effects are great for low budget, but not too much.Get over expecting some Saving Private Ryan quality movie and we can all kick back and enjoy the show. People need to get over the whole multimillion dollar expectations. I give it the full ten stars. I totally got into this flick. It looked and felt like a 1970's horror and war movie all in one. There was not a lot of gore or blood, which was something that could have made the movie even better if it had blood flowing like a creek and got even more silly.
In my opinion if you like all the good war films, I wouldn't run to see this one..perhaps walk. The acting is bog standard, as is the script, soundtracks don't do it for me either. There is no sense of atmosphere that makes you want to keep watching unlike band of brothers, black hawk down etc etc.It was the monstrous ring figure that really made me laugh, seems like the director couldn't decide whether to make a horror or a war film, so decided to do both.On the plus side, there are bullets & bloodSorry 4/10 for me !
