Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

There is a cliché that woman use when they see a handsome man who happens to bat for the other team: what a waste. That about sums up this film for me.This film gives an honest look at what pursuing the homosexual life is like, namely, the heartache and longing that can never really be fulfilled. All the gay characters suffer through the search and it never materializes to anything but vapid sex - a few laughs. And, for most men who need a little action once in a while, that is enough. It is no secret that men can get off on other men, even if they are married happily and have children, etc. The conflict is within them. They need something else that only another man can give them and it really is not sex. They obviously do not sleep with every gay man they meet - no, they want their "type", which in many cases (as with these two) are daddy figures. These men missed out on something related to their father as so many "gay" men do. Consequently, they are never really satisfied.Of course, it is not all bad. They have no problem going online, sending their pictures etc. and hooking up, regardless of how hick their town is. I got the feeling these guys were close to Austin so .....This was more of a Brokeback Mountain scenario where the guys were rather bisexual, and feeling that their gay romance was some kind of freedom from the old ball and chain. There was no feeling that these men HAD to be with other men; they just liked it once and a while.People often wonder why parents discourage homosexuality. The same reason God does - it is not good for you to be always sad and confused and having to negotiate your way in a world where you are the minority. Affairs with married men, etc. are not healthy and one cannot blame "society" for that - or God.So you get your rocks off and say maybe we will see each other again. But the way the two primped and showed their insecurity, even at a motel was funny as well.It was nice that they had a good mix of gay types - not just model/porn types. I felt kind of sorry for the little girl though, who has to see her mother accept flowers and go out on a date with another man while her father stands there. And apparently, she was fond of her dad's married lover too who used to live with them until he went back to his wife. A child should not have to go through that confusion.I guess the bottom line is we all want to be touched and held even if we know it will not last. That is the sad part. As I said at the beginning, what a waste. The organized LGBT hate this kind of film. Why? Because it is real, just as Boys in the Band was real and Brokeback Mountain was real. Men do struggle with these urges and most of the time, it does not have a fairy-tale ending. You get what you can when you can and live with that reality.

I was kind of generous giving this movie 6 out of 10, but I at least admire it for never having a false moment. The actors and the director made everything believable, but it was such a set of dreary characters in undramatic scenes, that the movie was actually painful to watch. I think I mostly blame the script which failed to find a way to really make us care. The ending seemed to be about some kind of redemption and finding love, but all it really was was a successful hookup. "Hey, call me," says Gabe. "Anytime," and they head off smiling, in the hope of another session of manly frottage. But given all the heartbreak and disappointment, there is nothing here that points to a great future.Compare this to the date episode in the first season of the TV show, "Looking." Nothing but two guys almost just about to fall in love, spending the day together talking about their lives, their fears, their histories, sex. And it was totally engaging because there was a tentative fragility and joy to the whole thing. "Pit Stop" (why is it called this?) never found such lightness.

I made it all the way through it, though there were parts where I felt like dozing of (much like Les from the movie). I could've sworn the film that he fell asleep on was this one. I'm not going to give this film a 1, because part of the reason I was disinterested may have been from my own distraction. However, this film didn't help. It was slow. And very early on I was looking for the connection between the two male leads, but I never really got it. I thought maybe they were caught in a love triangle that would reveal itself near the end, but it never happened. This story was really just about two strangers in the night, and was truly nothing special. The stories of the two men weren't exactly unique, as they're things that normal coming of age gay men go through. So- in all, this was like watching two regular gay men, navigate themselves through life only to have a fling at the end of the movie. Nothing exciting happens.

You follow th life of two broken hearted men, Gabe and Ernesto, who live in the same town, go to the same places and work 100 ft away without even knowing each other. It may seem a little still at the beginning and by the trailer you might expect it to progress into a much more sexualized interaction between characters, but it turns out to be a nice romantic drama, which was a nice surprise. It's not one of those "instant love" movies in which two people meet, fall madly in love and ride in a white horse to the horizon, it's a bit deeper than that, showing you about how you can "move on" how and when you least expect it.I recommend it.
