This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place
I'll tell you why so serious
Did you people see the same film I saw?
The first must-see film of the year.
I gave it 3 stars, but to be quite honest I don't think it's worth any.I could hardly make it through the end. Being a fan of horror films and most of all of Tobe Hooper's earlier works (Poltergeist, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre), I was expecting "Crocodile" to be at least a decent film. Boy, I couldn't be more wrong! What a flop! The characters are shallow, the screenplay is painfully bad, and it is all absolutely predictable. The crocodile itself is absurd, sometimes I wondered if it was made of paperboard. Leave alone it defied most every law of physics known to men; it crashed an entire police boat in half, blew up trucks, ate people like chewing gum.But the special effects, surprisingly enough, were not the worst thing about it. The acting is laughably awful. The teens (who were at least thirty years old) tried really hard to make us believe that they were going through some tough times alone with a giant crocodile but, everything was so fake and exaggerated I couldn't help but laugh all the way through. The older actors seemed loose and I, for one, didn't think they quite fit in the storyline. If you're looking for a horror film, go watch something else. If you don't mind wasting a few hours of your life and want to laugh out loud at stupid special effects, that's your film. At least the Princess lived.
it's painfully obvious from these reviews that the idiots who posted them, the film was clearly not aimed towards you...this is for the fans of the genre and since i am such a fan, i'm more qualified to actually review this film.it's a killer monster movie, the story is simple... a crocodile is on the loose killing people... the acting is pretty good, and it gets better the more the film goes on... even the annoying guy becomes likable towards the end and he's actually pretty funny to listen to...the movie makes you jump a few times, all the music ques are in the right place.. the music is tense and it's very well directed... the crocodile CGI is not amazing, but who cares? we're not watching it for CGI the budget is under 3 million, so what else do you expect? it's a fun ride right the way through.for those saying they are one dimensional characters are clueless, this is NOT a character driven story... if you want to care about characters, watch a character driven story and keep your nose out of this genre...
Alright... let's be honest here... when you come across a movie entitled Crocodile what can you expect at the most... I mean seriously. Your not gonna expect Jaws or any other big budget film... I guess what I'm getting at is that this movie is pretty decent for a low budget B monster movie. I mean the acting is a little below average considering it was most of the casts first movie. The effects are actually somewhat decent for the time, aside for a few shots of an ugly CG crocodile. The story has been done over and over but that's the fun of it, in my opinion, comparing them all together. The gore was decent and it was bloody enough to satisfy me. This movie, honestly, is what you'd expect from a B movie, and you can't really ask for anything more of it... you just can't. But i do believe this was the first to start the whole cheesy B crocodile movie phase but this one actually executed it pretty well. It's entertaining, fun, hilarious, cliché, and cheesy but that's what i look for when watching a film like this. So if you happen to look for the same things I look for one coming upon a film such as this than i recommend it, but if your looking for a Lake Placid then don't watch it.
I give it six stars because it was boring and it had barely any excitement but it was good. Some deaths were pointless, and some deaths were just plain stupid and idiotic...the first hour could have had a little more excitement then 2 deaths per 30 minutes. I liked the ending but i wish the 3rd main character would have died. If you watch it on TV, turn it on when it's at the the last 45 minutes with action, if you rent it, you might want to go to scene selection and skip to about (i'm guessing) like the last 5 chapters of it. we think you should give it a try and try to watch the last half-hour of this movie (which is the action sequences) and you would provably enjoy that, it is a okay movie in my opinion.
