It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
Scientists living in the United States intercept a strange alien "transmission" from outer space that turns out to be a count down. I do not know why the aliens would send any type of "message" that the humans could receive. At zero, the invading aliens propel a laser pulse from positioned destroyer ships that demolishes various major cities on earth including DC, where the President originally is. The idea, I imagine, is to reduce morale and make it easier to kill them all! To prevent their annihilation, while at Area 51, one American scientists proposes a plan to the President who arrived by Air Force One with him to give the alien computer system a virus. This virus will bring down all of the alien shields so that the united human counter-offensive can use some of their own weapons, i.e., a nuclear missile. The Americans discovered previously they were not able to penetrate past them; after the first strike the President ordered the military to launch a nuclear bomb from a grounded armored vehicle that had a visual of one of the destroyers in sight. The missile was not able to pass its shield. The scientist and a soldier commandeer a captured enemy jet stored there, at Area 51, and successfully upload the virus into the mother ship by flying the jet into the mother ship's docking bay and connecting to their computer system. With their shields down, each and every of the invader's ships is taken down. All the humans had to do was remove their shields.
One of the most criticized movies that I remember, and for a large sector that far from seeing its true pretensions, which are none other than those of a pure and carefree entertainment judge for their patriotic messages. They can not argue otherwise than the worn and boring speech "Americanized", the same ones who do not mind that concept when they come out of films like "Save Private Ryan", "Flags of Our Fathers" and many others that according to the director the same message seems to be forgotten, when dealing with more serious issues should be more objective. In any case Roland Emmerich, he goes through the lining (fortunately) the opinion of critics and is limited to perform the kind of show that he would like to see in a movie theater. For "Independence Day", he does not hesitate to take references such as "The War of the Worlds" or "Star Wars" as well as the cinema of catastrophes of the 70's, recycling what was the day of its premiere a spectacular production with extraordinary visual effects, which combine exemplary models and digitalisations with a result of reference. The story is not new, but if it is, the dialogues are not Shakespeare's, but who cares? when it comes to spending two hours of pure action in which there is hardly room for absurd ramblings. It is therefore an easy target for those who believe themselves to be scholars and try to make those who enjoy this type of products complacent, who at least have a clear objective, to collect and entertain. I certainly had a great time and fully enjoyed this excellent science fiction film, to "Hamlet" we will leave for another day.
I went to see this in the big screen, and it was pretty good...except, when I thought about it some, I realized that all the comedians were competing for the best one liners through much of the movie. That detracted from the overall experience for me personally...The story line is right out of the classic "aliens come to take over the Earth" theme, but with considerable panache this time. It seems the entire alien race lives on this humongous star ship, and even have smaller attack "shuttles" that are still 15 miles in diameter...All the actors are household names in their own right, but in this case putting them all in the same movie, each one trying to out do the other was a letdown really...Otherwise, the acting is presentable, the CGI rather well done, and it was an enjoyable experience overall...
Independence Day is one of the most known films. One of the favorite films of the world. The release of the film created huge explosions in the box office. The story is happening two days before the most important day of America (July 4). A huge alien ship arrives. The panic civilians try to welcome them, but terrific attack was the result.I don't think there is any film lover who have not aware of this movie. A definitely must watch film. #KiduMovie
