So much average
One of my all time favorites.
I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
There are movies like hangover, borat and our idiot brother with characters played by Zach Galifianakis, Sacha Baron Cohen and Paul Rudd. All this movies highlight the humor to its extreme only because of the characters chosen to play these roles. Same is the case here the character St. Vincent which is also the movie name is played by Bill Murray. The essence of the movie is lifted by Bill. He is sincerely funny. All other elements added to make the movie run well with his acting. The comedy drama keeps you engaged every now and then by coming up with something new at every instance.Despite his moody behavior his new neighbor oliver who is a child pens down his character as a saint for an elocution completion held at school. Is he right? See the movie and decide for yourself.
This was a very touching movie with a 'cute' 'funny' 'realistic' story, had me laughing and crying. I love Bill Murray and the boy, but I am sick of Melissa McCarthy. Honestly the only thing that stood in the way of the last star was her... if they cast someone, almost anyone else, it would have been a solid 10. Also, why does IMDb put a 'minimum length' requirement on movie reviews...
Melissa McCarthy shows a real knack for dramatic acting; I like her better in this movie than most of her other comedic roles. Lots of movie clichés in St. Vincent, in fact the entire premise is a cliché, but it's fun, heartwarming, and entertaining. Bill Murray has perfected his lovable grouch persona and is revealed to be, a modern day saint despite his despicable characteristics. My biggest objection: he gets "Sainthood Points" for visiting his wife, who suffers from some form of dementia, (yet manages to still look flawlessly beautiful), once a week, while also "entertaining" a Russian hooker the rest of the time. Not sure how saintly this is; my father-in-law visits his wife several times a day while she's in long term care, and has been doing it for years. Perhaps we should award him a sainthood medal.
I've got to say this one of my favourite movies in the last 10 years. First of all it tells such an amazing story, and has everything you would want in a movie. Considering I don't usually get emotional at movies there where parts of this I was holding back the tears. The performance from Bill Murray is outstanding, and the actor playing 'Oliver' the main kid is something special and he has a very bright future ahead. The film is also hilarious at some brilliant moments of comedy, however the way the film builds to do the speech at the end, and the relationship both Vincent and Oliver have is incredible. I don't usually write reviews, and know this film has had its nominations, however still believe the credit it has received is no where near what it deserves. All I can say is if you're looking for a fun, heart warming film that makes you have a different perspective on life this is the one. I've seen it twice and could watch this over and over, im telling you, you will not regret it.
