To Write Love on Her Arms
The story follows 19-year-old Renee who has always loved fairy tales: the idea of a princess, a hero and a happily ever after. But Renee’s life is that of a darker tale: she’s a young woman battling addiction, depression and self-injury. In a creative blend of artistic fantasy balanced with harsh reality, the movie follows Renee on her courageous journey towards recovery.

I'll tell you why so serious
Excellent adaptation.
Better Late Then Never
The first must-see film of the year.
A weak but well-meaning film by director Nathan Frankowski, "To Write Love on Her Arms" stars Kat Dennings as Renne Yohe, a young woman who is saved from addiction, self-harm, suicide and depression by friends and strangers. The film is based on several real-life events. These events would lead to the formation of an American non-profit organisation which specialises in assisting those suffering from addictions and depression. When it adopts a tone of social-realism, "To Write Love on Her Arms" is a fine drama. The film's touching tale, however, is derailed by unnecessary flashbacks, jarring fantasy sequences and a plot which is less interested in Renne than the non-profit organisation formed in response to her plight. Co-starring Rupert Friend and Chad Murray.6/10 – Better films about suicide and self-harm: "Night Mother", Louis Malle's "The Fire Within", "Harold and Maude", "The Bridge", "The Seventh Continent", "Ordinary People", "Girl Interrupted", "A Taste of Cherry", "Imaginary Heroes" and "Mouchette".
2 of 10. This is the worst kind of war on drugs propaganda and film. It feels like you're watching something quickly scrambled together to show on TV with the intent of persuading young people that drugs are bad, only used by "messed up" people, and you can only be good again by rehabbing with baby-Jesus.Leading the way is Kat Dennings, who is the poster actress for grunge/goth/outsider posers. Add to that a collection of desperate actors and actresses hoping for a break or a paycheck and you get nothing worth watching other than the irony of their story not telling what they try to force it to tell via one last end-of-film gimmick. The only thing I'll be writing love to after watching this is the programmer who made increased playback speeds possible so I could get this film over without sacrificing too much of my life.
Such good and touching movie. Its story has been told very straightforward and clearly without wasting a minute and grabs your attention from the first minute. The message and closing part is such good that stays with you for hours. Kat Dennings is very lovable and believable in her role, she has done a great job here. Music is also a strong point of it. I strongly recommend to go and watch it in cinemas when its officially released(hopefully in 2015).... but there's only one thing I don't understand.... and that is: This movie has been produced in 2012 and has been showed in a number of film festivals since,.... without having released officially in cinemas for public... Why??? Such good movie why should be stored in those lousy vulnerable hard drives of Sony Pictures company that long till those hackers from North Korea( or whatever) can get their dirty hands on it and publishing it over the peer to peer websites for people to download it for free?? that's a great shame... all the hard work of people involving to producing this beautiful movie are wasted now... what a pity... thats sad...
I saw this movie at the Omaha Film Festival and we stayed an extra two to three hours just to watch it (I went up with my school theatre troupe and we had school the next day). I loved it and it moved me and everyone else in the theatre. Kat Dennings is one of my favorite actresses and Chad Micheal Murry was awesome too. We had a Q&A session before the movie with Chad Micheal Murry, David McKenna and Kim the director. We learned about To Write Love On Her Arms and Renee. Just hearing that made me want to see the movie so much more. After the movie, my troupe, along with the parents that attended, were given a packet of questions for the movie with questions asking about how we liked the movie and if we had done any of the stuff in the movie. So we were the guinea pig audience for this movie and we had a blast getting to talk with Chad, David, and Kim. Hope you all liked it because I, and my troupe, loved it!!
