Fresh and Exciting
It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
For me this movie was gripping and well executed and told. With what they had to work with a 10 is well deserved. I've lately seen movies with A-List actors that are unbearable and cringeworthy. I understand those who are biased give these movies a 10. But I'm gonna do me and bring back traditions that I first fell in love with.
Just goes to show what is someones trash is someones treasure and looking at reviews on here I nearly did not bother watching this and that would have been a shame as its a good movie and certainly as good as any other found footage movie out there and better than a lot of them to.I started to watch this with a finger close to the stop button on the remote but I never stopped it. In fact I was riveted from beginning to end. I loved the way they blended real events and news reports with the fiction parts of the story which really grabbed you and the lead in with all the footage of the kids messing around made you want to watch until the end to see what happens.Don't always believe the reviews on here and watch this movie you might be very surprised.... I was
'Phoenix Forgotten' basically tries to blend 'Alien Abduction' with 'The Blair Witch Project' and the outcome is disappointing, to say the least. The film showcases the journey undertaken by three teenagers who are in pursuit of evincing the involvement of aliens during the appearance of 'mysterious lights' in the night-sky; an incident which occurred during the year 1997 in Arizona, USA. The film follows the tried-and-tested path of found-footage horror..central characters who are eager to prove something to the world (mostly for the fame that will follow), getting lost as expected, bizarre exhibition of behavior and of course, shaky cam. This is a horror sub-genre that has reached saturation point, and it'd take a visionary director to completely subvert the model. Justin Barber unfortunately isn't that revolutionary director, and is content sticking to genre-usuals.The three protagonists thankfully aren't the typical sex-obsessed thrill seekers (seen usually in horror films with a synopsis that begins like "A group of friends..."), but still don't manage to gather a sense of appeal. The final act is the archetypal "scream, run and ultimately get trapped" reiteration. Meh!Verdict: Rinse & repeat!
I try to watch movies without reading the reviews of others. Because everybody is telling a movie "Bad", then my preconception will be bad too. So, I watched the movie without others influence and can share what I felt by watching the movie. The starting of the movie was really good. For this kind of movie, you need to first set the plot sothat we can care for the characters. Initially, sister of one of the three victims tries to investigate what really did happen to her brother and his friends. I liked the part when Sister went to different people associated with the investigation, and what was the present account of the incident that happened 20 years ago. The old movie collection was very believable, I almost felt like that it was really a documentary, not any acting. Director has put a lot of effort to really make the clips seem like amateur captures. The way everyone acted within the clips, is praiseworthy. But the movie becomes boring at the later half of the movie. I guess, the director himself did realize the ending story is not a great one, so may be he just pushed on to finish the movie somehow, rather than taking a lot of care to shoot the movie. I must admit, the female teenager acted really well. There was a time when shows like X-files used similar concepts of UFO, but now this UFO thing is just an old past, no one cares about UFO anymore. And the movie might have lacked the budget to make the last scenes more believable.I feel sad to see so many one or two stars in reviews, I would like to appreciate the work of the director, of the female actress, the editors who worked hard to make the clips look like real ones, and so on. It is a movie to watch when you can waste an hour and so to just relax. There are definitely many more bad movies than this one.
