It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.

100 FEET is a haunted house ghost story with a slightly different plot to the usual: a woman is trapped inside her own home alongside the vengeful spirit of her dead abusive husband. She can't leave because she wears an electronic ankle tag that'll go off and see her sent back to prison if she tries going outside. It's quite a novel premise, although as it turns out the ankle bracelet aspect of the story never really goes anywhere and becomes less and less important as time goes on.For the most part this is quite predictable stuff, although it's a little more grounded and believable than other genre entries. One notable thing about the production is that it was directed by Eric Red, the guy who wrote THE HITCHER and NEAR DARK, so it has a bit of style that you normally wouldn't see. The story is still slow paced, occasionally clichéd, and suffers from a rubbish-looking CGI ghost, but apart from that it's not too bad.Famke Janssen takes the lead role and while I've never been a big fan of this actress - there's something I find that's very cold and mechanical about her - she's acceptable in the part. Bobby Cannavale (BOARDWALK EMPIRE) is much better as the hot-headed cop put on guard duty outside her house. Former action star Michael Pare plays the evil spirit but is wasted in a nothing role. There's a stand-out murder by ghost scene which has some strong effects and features some brutal violence that comes out of nowhere, although the fiery climax is pretty silly when it comes down to it.

I'm not a fan of ghost movies but 100 Feet had some nail biting moments of suspense and is the best ghost movie I've seen in a long time, much better than the Japanese ghost films which tend to rely on creepy children and boo scares. The ghost is scary looking and if that appeared on my ceiling I would claw through the floor to get away. The ghost isn't just an ugly face but viciously attacks anyone that rubs him the wrong way, which is usually his ex-wife being that she was the one who killed him in the first place. Famke Janssen emotes poorly but carries the movie well and generally sells the story. The writing is good with some head scratchers and one really big whopper of a plot hole that plays into the ending and will leave you shaking your head. If ghosts are your thing, worth a look.

This is one of those Engaging Stories that Disengages Viewers too many times asking Plot Questions and Character Behavior. It Compels than Dispels Disbelief so much that the Flow of the Film is Disrupted and that is Deadly for a Suspense/Thriller.It is a Yin/Yang of a Movie that has many things that are Intriguing, like the Shackled Wife being Shackled by Law Enforcement after being Beat-On by Her Abusive Husband. She is on House Arrest for Killing Her Spouse in Self Defense. Some things that Happen are just Stupid and some things are Impressive in a Scary Movie Way, but the CGI is Overused (especially in the rather bad ending) and one of the Weakest Elements, and this is a Big One, is the Inconsistent Ability of the Vengeful Ghost Entity. Sometime He is like a Super-Demon from Hell and Quickly in another Scene is Struggling to get the Job done.Overall, it is a Frustratingly Mediocre Movie that seems Sophomoric from a Seasoned Writer/Director at Home in this Element. It comes across Frequently as not to well thought out and the whole thing is a Wasted Opportunity that remains of interest only to the most Accepting of Genre Fans.

100 Feet is the wrong movie to be watching at night time, trust me on this one. It is well written, has great acting, and great dialogue. Despite the tiresome amount of films that have gone in this direction, this one stands out from them all. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who dares to be frightened, because the probability of this scary flick freaking you to pieces is pretty high! A woman is let out early from prison, but at a high cost: She must reside in the same house that she murdered her husband in, who happened to be a violent cop. His partner happens to be the man who is more then anxious to put her back in prison, so he waits patiently in his car parked across the street, waiting for her to violate her probation. She has an ankle bracelet attached to her ankle (hence the name), and is instructed not to go past 100 feet of the house, or the alarm will go off. Goes off for longer then three minutes, and she's automatically going back to jail. Not too hard to do, right? HEH, the plot thickens. The house she's living in is possessed by a poltergeist, and it just happens to be the husband she killed in self defense. And he is powerful and angry as ever!!! Her survival skills must be put to play, however, what defense do you have against something that is not in human form? Can it even be stopped? Even if her probation officer believes her story that she is being violently stalked by her dead husband, how can he protect her from this savage entity? There are long, boring sequences, but bare with it, and trust me, the rewards come later. By the first half hour, she knows what is going on. The last half hour is when the really good stuff happens, and I'm talking...jump out of your skin, "Oh my God!", freaky , weird , crazy, messed up stuff. I'm not revealing too much, because it will spoil the story, and I sure do not want to spoil the ending. If you like your movies scary, you're in for a treat....which is long overdue these days. Fantastic film!
