The Worst Film Ever
When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Has there ever been a production company that seemed to care less about the quality of their output than Disney between the late 90s and early 2000s? The first Santa Clause is a funny and imaginative Christmas tale, but this thing is annoying, forced, ugly, and unnecessary. I even like Tim Allen, but I never wanna watch him play a giant sentient doll ever again.
Entertaining enough, I guess, if you've already started loading up on seasonal good will. I'm not sure this is what you want to start filling up with as it gets pretty sappy and kid-targeted humor is always a fail so it may leave you irritated rather than jolly. It does have some eye candy, a sprinkling of FX AND it does present a bit of funny. 7 may be over-stuffing the stocking here but, hey, I'm writing this in December and I don't want to be too naughty. This is watchable every 3 - 5 years, if you're loaded up on egg nog.
Scott Calvin has been a humble Santa Claus for nearly ten years, but it might come to an end if he doesn't find a Mrs. Claus. The Santa Clause 2 is nowhere near as good as the first in my opinion but it's not a bad sequel either i really liked the fact that the original cast returned once more and some new characters such as Elizabeth Mitchell as Carol A.k.a Mrs Santa and some certain scenes like when Tim Allen made many grown men and women feel like children again with toys that they never got or even the very end made the film really good for me. It does have issues tho for example i didn't like the fact that they went to a more dramatic territory with this one like Charlie being on the naughty list and sometimes the film gets a bit goofy but then again it's a film about a guy that is Santa Claus and gives gifts to children so it makes sense but overall those are really small problems because this movie was really good and pretty funny for the whole Family.
A rather forced sequel at times. I hated this on my initial viewing 8 years ago, as it spat on the memory I had of the original. This year I watched them back to back and it actually played a lot better. The film still has some major issues. Most of all, it can't balance the adult and children's views. The tone is very slapstick and childish. Bernard seems less bitter, and Breslin is boy that shouts rather than acts. He seems to try and copy the mannerisms of his favorite actors. Despite the immature tone, we have a love story which isn't all that interesting. There are some great heartwarming bits, such as the Secret Santa scene, but Allen also comes off as desperate (which his character is) and creepy sometimes. The fake Santa is a great comedic villain, and the fun Allen has with him makes up for the slow romance and seriousness he displays elsewhere. A bit disappointing, but worthwhile over Christmas.
