How sad is this?
An Exercise In Nonsense
Teacher Andy won't stand up for himself. The last day of the school year involves the seniors all playing malicious stunts on staff at the same time as the school board is rolling out large-scale sackings. Andy's wife is just about to have their second child, and Andy is expecting to participate with his daughter in her elementary school talent contest 15 minutes after his interview about whether he still has a job or not. Factor into this that the pranking leads to muscular psycho teacher Strickland getting fired, blaming it on weedy Andy, and demanding satisfaction by way of a Fist Fight at the end of the day, and you are only dipping your toes into the mountain of improbability which makes up this film. Heaven knows that I don't demand believability from a movie - ghosts, monsters, spaceships and super-heroes comprise a large proportion of my filmgoing inventory - but a film which is notionally rooted in the real world should, I suggest, have a scenario which enables you, at the very least, to suspend disbelief in respect of its least likely elements. The trouble is that there is no element of this movie, other than the birth of the baby, which isn't so much unlikely as totally unbelievable. Not one. I might even be able to make allowances for that if it wasn't for the fact the film is completely unfunny. I don't think anyone in the cinema cracked a smile. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't comedies supposed to make you laugh? But nothing here is funny. Not the female teacher intent on having sex with students, not the half-*ssed plot to plant drugs on a teacher, not the fight itself, not the student determinedly masturbating in the toilets, not the F-bomb laden talent show song performed by the pre-teen daughter... every "gag" here is either misconceived or misfires or both.I'm not a fan of Charlie Day, but he is by far the best thing in this movie, and he isn't very good. Ice Cube as Strickland is horrible. Please do not go to see this film.
Ice Cube and Charlie Day star in this 2017 comedy. Day plays mild-mannered, High School teacher, Campbell who endures a day from hell after he's challenged to a fight by other teacher, Strickland (Cube) whom he gets fired because of his violent temper. Campbell goes to great lengths trying to get him to change him mind, but toughens up in the process. Tracy Morgan, Christina Hendricks and Jillian Bell are also featured. This is a pretty good flick that makes an obvious reference to "Three O'Clock High," it's humorous and Cube & Day are great in it. Give this one a try at least once.
I can't believe I watched the whole movie. Frankly this movie sucks. The story in itself is very poorly written, no plot just random pranks, filled with the unwanted use of abusive language. Acting was also not good. Better to skip this one in my opinion.
This is a movie....I honestly can't imagine writing much more about it than that.
