Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Life After Beth is a movie as confused as its main protagonist Zach Orfman, a movie that can't decide whether it's a laugh out loud comedy, a gross out dramedy or satirical runoff of the ever saturated zombie filled marketplace and as a result of its genre confusion, Life After Beth is a basket case of a film that at times becomes so bad you feel sorry for all the talented members of the cast who obviously saw some potential in this tale.Dane DeHaan, John C. Reilly, Aubrey Plaza, Molly Shannon and Anna Kendrick, it's a competent cast, Reilly alone is always a fine big screen presence and DeHaan has over a few short years shown himself to be one of the finest up and coming actors in the business, but no one here comes out on top. DeHaan is annoying as grieving boyfriend Zach, Reilly and Shannon get short changed with one note characters and the toughest gig of all in the form of Beth played by Plaza couldn't have been saved by any amount of great acting. Beth is such a strange and unfulfilling character you begin to pity Plaza's plight and it's safe to say she gives it her all in a committed performance that deserved a better movie.A huge chunk of Life After Beth's failings can be attributed to director/writer Jeff Baena's failings to control the films tonal shifts. At any one moment we will be asked to feel sympathy for lost loves then the next moment something crazy will happen that either feels totally out of place or just downright lame. The script fails to zing, the pacing feels off and the overall product that has been placed into completion feels far too close to a student movie than one would care to see. It's a real shame that there are so many failings in this picture as you do get the feeling that there is a good film here, somewhere deep down amongst all the wannabe funnies or the romantic sentiments that don't resonate.Life After Beth is a strange event, from the outset you get the feeling something just isn't right and as you get further and further into this murky love story your vision becomes clear that this is just a lost film that didn't have a solid enough identity to make it succeed. There are some fine actors in here but they're lost in a short running time that feels much longer than it is due to a lack of any sort of audience engagement. A real non-event, Life After Beth is an out and out misfire.1 oven out of 5 For more movie reviews and opinions check into -www.jordanandeddie.wordpress.com

Comedy is a tough cookie and sometimes does not sell as good. And while this movie did not exactly meet my expectations (after all the good things that were written 6 months ago, it seemed to be a real hit), it isn't as bad as it is rated here on IMDb. Maybe people were really disappointed and voted that way, but maybe they just didn't like the way/humor this has.Whatever the case, it is uncomfortable and it is funny at times. It could have done with some tweaks and be better at times (either more funny or more inject more horror to it), but it still works most of the time. It's really an achievement by the actors that this is as good as it got, even though we were all hoping for a bit more. Decent effort

Life After Beth currently has a 5.7/10 overall rating... that really doesn't seem fair. I personally liked it; very rarely do I find a movie from the 21st century that I like but Life After Beth was at least half-decent.The story is anything but typical, somewhat of a zombie romance comedy but not any of that popular dystopian garbage. It takes place in a boring little suburb. Zach Orfman, who looks like a Harold & Maude extra, is a teenage guy who has recently lost his girlfriend, Beth, to a fatal snake bite. Her parents are very sad whereas Zach's family is strangely indifferent, left in their own oblivious happiness and thinking that Zach is in need of a neurologist (Zach's brother Kyle is Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds, playing the suburb's geeky security guard).Naturally, when Zach discovers to his shock that Beth is alive again, nobody believes him until it's too late. And Beth isn't... well, uh, she certainly isn't Beth anymore. This movie has its moments and flaws: Pros: Pretty good acting, soundtrack that isn't annoying, a funny zombie story, some funny jokes, no characters excessively texting on cellular phones.Cons: WAY too many sex jokes... okay, the scarf one is pretty funny, but it starts going way too far with the sex jokes as the movie goes on. Some things just aren't explained; I don't get why the zombies enjoy listening to light jazz, among other things. The movie drags on at times.Life After Beth isn't perfect, that being said it isn't awful, either. If you're a fan of zombie movies like Warm Bodies, Hell of the Living Dead and Fido, you'll want to at least check it out and even if you hate it at least you can make fun of it. Just don't watch it in the attic with your girlfriend, mayhem might ensue.

Life After Beth is a Comedy/ Drama/Horror film about Zach Orfman ( Dane Dehaan) who just lost his girlfriend Beth (Aubrey Plaza) . He spends a lot of time at Beth's parent and finds it difficult to accept that Beth isn't alive anymore. But when all of a sudden the parents don't answer the phone anymore and don't let Zach in anymore he is starting get frustrated. He keeps coming and suddenly sees Beth walking in the house. That leaves Zach with a lot of questions and Beth's father is letting him now ad tries to explain. Beth has been resurrected but she can't know, Zach must find a way to deal with this. And tries to solve the problem. While this film is mainly meant as a Comedy there are also so much emotional scenes included. The scenes between Dane Dehaan and Aubrey Plaza are amazing. They deliver an fantastic job and give a great performance which helps the audience help to understand their characters. The scenes between them are very funny and they bring that over fantastic. Further casting deliver an acceptable job doing their role but Dane Dehaan and Aubrey Plaza deliver definitely the best performance.I think this script has been written really great. There are some romantically moment, some Dramatic moments for the main character, but also there are lots of Comedy moments. The story has been written beautifully and the characters are developed on screen really great. The thing about the film which I disliked was when more Zombies came you really didn't see them doing anything particular. There were no moments of action scenes, you didn't see them attack. And it took really long before they suddenly knew how to kill them. You, also, never saw them find out how to kill a Zombie, they just suddenly knew. While there was a moment in the film were Zach had to visit someone finding out what happened. But he never heard how to kill them, they never explained how to kill it- they just suddenly knew. Also I wasn't happy with the ending because Zach should never be able to love someone so soon already. Because he still loved Beth so much.Rating this film was quite difficult but I think give the rating : 6/10. Dane dehaan and Aubrey Plaza's performance helped to make this film great to watch. The comedy moments were also really funny but there were a few things which I disliked about the film. And that was all the reason for this rating.
