An Exercise In Nonsense
It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.
While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Two grifters named Johnny and Henry team up to pull off the ultimate con. The Sting will definitely sting you with it's boredom since not even Robert Redford and Paul Newman can't save it from falling apart. The movie is also a different of alot of different genres like comedy and crime and neither good on either sides of the same coin plus way to long and slow paced that makes the experience even worse and perhaps not a movie so special to deserve an 8.3/10 and definitely not a movie that also does not deserve to be on the top films of all time... (0/10)
The Sting3 Out Of 5The Sting is a heist thriller about two con artists whose plan to take down the impossible might just be possible. The scrutiny in here isn't as convoluted or glorifying as the makers think but is undeniably impressive and breezy to encounter which comes with cons too, like the characters never seems to be in trouble and has a way out of every calculated conflicts; primary reason why audience feels disconnected with the viewers. It is short on technical aspects like sound department, cinematography and editing although has amazing costume design and background score in its favor. The writing is weak yet gripping with varied tactics of heists that helps keep the audience engaged in it. The screenplay by David S. Ward pitches an impactful heist tale that is unforgettable in its own way. George Roy Hill; the director, has done a marvelous job on executing the script which could have easily come off as a hoax. The performance is decently acted out by Paul Newman and Robert Redford in their parallel roles and Robert Shaw in a supporting role. The Sting has a viscous bite that spreads like fire in a forest for despite of being loosely written it certifiably makes it entertaining.
You will be hooked all the way to the end. You must watch it.
Don't do what I did. Don't walk into the living room when the last ten minutes of The Sting is playing on television before you've seen the entire movie. Watch it from the beginning. If you watch it from the beginning, it's fantastic (I'm assuming). Paul Newman and Robert Redford team up again, and bounce off each other like brothers. It's truly wonderful to watch them together. The Sting is a con-man, hustler, heist movie. Two con-men team up to get back at the boss; all the twists and turns will keep you on the edge of the seat the entire time! If that isn't enough, it's set in the 1920s, so there's cute music and darling costumes. If you haven't fallen in love with Robert Redford yet, watch this movie (or The Great Gatsby) and you will. He's just irresistible in 20s clothes. This is such an enjoyable and timeless classic. It's exciting, delightful, suspenseful, and classy. It's the kind of movie you want to dress up for.
