Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules

Wimpy Greg Heffley, now in seventh grade, thinks he has it all together. He has mastered middle school and gotten rid of the Cheese Touch. However, Greg's older brother, Rodrick, is itching to cut him down to size. He gets the perfect opportunity when their mother tries to force the boys to bond. I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.

Seriously, I once almost managed to sit through this tasteless, idiotic, immature and slightly offensive "movie". Really, if you're over the mental age of 12 and find this funny, you've got serious issues. And if you consider yourself to be a responsible adult, never ever let your children watch this. It makes this extremely unrealistically depicted Greg-fella seem like a role-model for middle-schoolers. He is pathetic, lazy and is constantly whining about how his parents, who can't act for nothing, punish him and his idiotic numb-brained older brother, who is also a terrible, terrible actor. They also have another younger brother, like what? 2-3 years old? Let me tell you something about little children: They don't have a sense of humor yet. They don't enjoy telling on their older siblings and then sit in their crib in a tuxedo and sip liquor, laughing and going: "HA! I really got him with this one!" They are infants! And in this "movie", their little brother also isn't depicted in a quite realistic way( I'm saying it like this in a sarcastic tone). How exactly did we arrive from Citizen Kane, The Godfather, The Shining and Midnight Cowboy to tasteless material like this? I weep for humanity. When I came here, I expected to see an average rating of approx. 4-5, not 6! Movies rated 6 generally aren't good, but for this crap, even 6 is overrated!

If you thought The First Wimpy Kid was bad. This one is even worse. In fact, one of the worst films of all time. Yeah I know I say that a lot but I always mean it. Always. The film starts out with something no one really cares to examine or analyze and we are left in the dust to figure out what is going on. In fact, Ill just tell you the plot. We have Greg played again by Gorden who is still good in this role. This time his brother is a total idiot and they get in the fight and the whiny mom won't shut the **** up and they get grounded or something like that and they must learn how to respect each other. This movie breaks the laws of physics in one scene and rips off a whole lot of stuff in other scenes like from The Hangover and what not. This has to be the bottom of the barrel for Mr. Steve Zahn as he plays the dad once again. But this time, he over reacts so much that it feels like he is insane. In fact, I think he is insane, in real life and in this movie. I don't think I would like to meet him. Ever. The acting is so horrendous that I feel sorry for all the kid actors who returned in this movie even the Indian kid who was made fun of severely in one scene being called Invisible. This "Invisible" gag went too far and teaches kids racism. Also, There are plenty of more awful morals and bullying in this movie. It never seems to end. What seems like an eternity is at least a 90 minute torture machine to see if you can shoot yourself before the movie is even over. David Bowers is a horrible director and- well maybe not horrible I am sure there is stuff that he has made or will make in the future that will be good but his direction is so horrible that I don't think he was even trying.Diary of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules is a horrific event in the history of cinema. If your kids make you try to rent this movie, lock them in a room and tie them to a chair and put on Driller Killer and leave them in the room until the movie is over. Although Driller Killer is pure bad its more entertaining then Rodrick Sucks because it is more rewarding than this will ever be.I would rather eat a Tarantula then watch this again.10/100 D-

Quite well made with slightly more use of the cartoons I liked in the first one used to illustrate the story. These were woefully underused in the first film and, although still not used consistently enough, it was nice to see them still there.I still think the character of Greg is a little too self-centred, for him it's all about being popular which never seems to work out the way he plans. This time his big brother is going to help him out… or is he? In the first film I felt the character of Rowley stole the show and this time around it seemed he took more of a back seat with Rodrick moving nearer to the limelight. This didn't work quite so well (for me) but I guess the production company must think they're doing something right because the third instalment is already in the can. Over all, not as good as the first film but there were still a one or two good points… I'm undecided about the third instalment, but we'll see next year when it airs on TV.My score: 5.5/10IMDb Score: 6.2/10 (based on 7,145 votes at the time of going to press).MetaScore: 51: (Based on 23 critic reviews provided by Metacritic.com at the time of going to press).Rotten Tomatoes 'Tomatometer' Score: 47/100 (based on 94 reviews counted at the time of going to press).Rotten Tomatoes 'Audience' Score: 63/100 (based on 29,070 user ratings counted at the time of going to press). You can find an expanded version of this review on my blog: Thoughts of a SteelMonster.

This movie is quite funny, but pieces of the film have been stolen from the third book,The Last Straw.Holly Hills doesn't come in until the third, and the pooped his pants piece is in the third, too. Fregely is not even in the second and neither is Patty Farrel . In the second book, Rodrick and Greg never become friends and never get chased by the P.E teacher.Greg doesn't meet Holly Hills at the old peoples home, and goes into the lady's toilet in the summer holidays, not when Rodrick and Greg go there because of Rodrick's wild party.Greg doesn't do the talent show with Rowely, but tries out with Scotty Douglas and doesn't get through to the audience.
