Best movie ever!
A Masterpiece!
There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
Taj Mahal Badalandabad (Kal Penn) leaves Coolidge College behind for his father's Alma mater Camford University in England. He was expecting to be admitted into the Fraternal Guild, Fox and Hounds. However the jerk president Pip plays the usual joke on commoners, and Taj gets relegated to the worst house, the Barn. It's a dumping ground where all the rejects are placed. At the campus Society Inaugural Ball, Taj meets Pip's girlfriend Charlotte Higginson (Lauren Cohan), and announces his house, the Cock and Bulls, is competing in the Hastings Cup.It's not really Van Wilder. It isn't even in the same vain as Van Wilder. This has much more in common with 'Revenge of the Nerds'. There's nothing particularly wrong with that. I don't expect Ryan Reynolds to lower himself to return to this franchise. Nevertheless, it still misses Reynolds. Kal Penn doesn't have quite the same boyish charm.
This movie is basically the EXACT same thing as the first movie but made with a different character. It wasn't too terrible to watch but I wasn't that impressed either. Nowhere near as great as the first one! I'd say it's worth it if you find it in the bargain bin for $5 or less but otherwise I wouldn't waste my money. Also wondering why, at the end of the first movie, Taj hooks up with this beautiful Indian girl but in this movie he has nobody and ends up hooking up with a girl in this one as well.. Not very good continuity if you ask me but I guess Hollywood is running out of ideas for original movies so they just do whatever they can to try and make a buck.. It's a shame really.
I don't know what people are talking about!!!! Maybe they did not get all the one liners(great ones, mind you!) It's one of the simplest comedy movies in a long time.. No hidden messages, nothing cryptic, just a great entertainer.. with great script, awesome story.. and the performance by Kal Penn! I consider this one of the best stress busters of all time and watch it when things in real world get too serious just to get the feeling that there is a lighter side of life; however improbable, still can bring that one expression that brings a curved lip line on your face. Watch it with your friends guys!.. not with a movie critic and you might get a hint as to what i am talking about. And believe you me, i am not the only one who agrees to such.Bottom line: Do not judge this movie based on the finesse of an artist. You would miss the inbred fun and frolic.Just realize that there are still things to be enjoyed without doing a critical acclamation and you should be fine!
I have to say, whoever wrote the comment "Oh My God" made a very valid point, where is the title character?! That aside, it is a bit of a light chuckle, but I found myself screaming at the TV more than anything!! Most definitely filmed in England, with a largely British cast. But the home of the main character is most definitely NOT English, despite being in a very English location. The film is packed with things that the American creators obviously thought they were getting totally right, but have got COMPLETELY wrong!! Ridiculous British stereotypes, the types of people whom I have never come across in my 20 years of living; an Irish stereotype; the obvious Asian-American stereotype; American phrases; American cultural references; ridiculous British references that are.. well they're not really anything that anyone in Britain would actually make any form of reference to!! So on and so forth!! Overall, a laugh, but not worth the frustration of being an American made, British based film!!
