Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

Short and Simple Review by WubsTheFadgerThe story is stupid but still funny. The plot is easy to follow but is also paper thin. Most of the jokes are actually funny and the wedding scene where James and Zoey sing is hilarious. The runtime is way too long and the pacing is very slow in the beginning. Also the editing is very wacky. For example, Natalie Portman's character is seen in the water in one scene and then she is seen on dry land in the very next scene not even wet.The CGI is good. There are a couple of instances of bad CGI, but most of it is good. The acting is good as well. James Franco plays a likeable and brave prince. Danny McBride plays a stuck-up, jealous brother. Natalie Portman is a badass huntress looking for revenge. The only bad thing about the acting is the terrible English accents by James, Danny, and Zoey.Pros: Funny jokes, good acting, good CGI, Zoey and James' singing scene, and James Franco's performanceCons: Some bad CGI, very stupid story, paper thin plot, terrible English accents, overlong runtime, and slow pacingOverall Rating: 6.0

Up front, I admit my bias. The locations used in this film (and Game of Thrones) were my childhood playground. Now, I like a good laugh and a bit of toilet humour is OK by me, but this film was just awful. Danny McBride is a terrible actor and the script is cringeworthy at best: I just cannot believe James Franco, Natalie Portman and Toby Jones agreed to stoop so low, none of whom return good performances. I note that two of our local politicians got a jolly to Hollywood out of it. The film was touted as an economic success for northern Ireland but I am ashamed to think that something as bad as this has been associated with one the world's most beautiful locations. Northern Ireland film should be more diligent and ensure better scripts are brought to film than this disaster.

Anybody force to watch this, is royalty screwed. Directed by David Gordon Green, the film centers on two Princes: Thadeous (Danny McBride) & Prince Fabious (James Franco) on their adventure to rescue Fabious's bride to be, Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel) from the evil wizard, Leezar (Justin Theroux). Can, the two princes with the help of a female warrior, Isabel (Natalie Portman) save the princess or will the evil wizard win the day? Watch the movie if you really want to, to find out! Without spoiling the movie, too much, I found this movie to be, very unfunny. Unlike, other medieval comedy films like 1993's Robin Hood: Men in Tight, 1975's Monty Python & the Holy Grail & 2001's Shrek that mixed lowbrow humor, so well with smart jokes. Your Highness is so full of gross toilet humor, awful sex jokes and juvenile excrescence that it's nearly unwatchable. Honestly, most of the crass dark humor that the film used, was a little too unpleasant. It's really hard to make controversial topics like rape, funny. It doesn't help, that Danny McBride plays such an unlikeable mean-spirit man-child. Your Highness relies way too heavily on the McBride factor for its laugh. Much of the comedy stems from McBride's comic timing and his horrible and likely intentional butchery of an English accent. Sadly, most of his gags, don't really works. I hate the fact that the movie is trying to make us, root for him, despite the fact, that it's a big fat coward who does absolutely nothing of note, in the film. Are we supposed to root for him because Fabious comes off as a little annoying? He does nothing of importance and screws up things a few times. The whole relationship with him and Isabel seem a little forced. These two, have little to no chemistry that I was really hoping for her, to turn him down. Natalie Portman's presence in the movie, is really jarring. She's better than this crap. It's really surprising, to see her, here. Natalie Portman admitted she only did this movie because there was some uncertainty if her Oscar Winning performance in 2010's Black Swan would get greenlit by a major studio. She signed on to this film for a paycheck and try to use it to help finance Black Swan herself, should the need have ever risen. However, Black Swan got greenlit and went underway fairly easily, and Natalie got stuck doing this film having already signed on. While, her performance wasn't bad, there was little to no reason to have her character to tag, along with the heroes. For the most part, the film really misused Natalie Portman's skills. I guess, they just wanted to exploit her, to get semi-naked for the oddly place, not needed 'Outdoor Bath Peeping' scene. At least, they make her character, somewhat a badass. Natalie Portman wasn't the only one, who dislike the film. Co-star, James Franco said in many interviews after the release of this film, that he thought this film was one of his worst, due to how badly, written it was. He really didn't like the lame delivery of the humor. He really hate the film. James Franco's performance for me, was alright, but every time, I saw him, in that silly long wig, acting noble & gallant, it remind me, so much of his 2006 film, Tristan + Isolde. It was so distracting. Supporting characters like Justin Theroux as the evil Wizard was cavorts in such ridiculous makeup and a horribly ugly poodle dog haircut that his look was a lot funnier than his jokes. The sweet presence of Zooey Deschanel was alright as the damsel of distress. I just wish, the movie made more used with her. She's somewhat funny in other comedies projects, so I was really disappointed, they didn't allow her humorous side to come out. Another thing that bother the living hell out of me, about this film is how the movie felt more like a tongue in cheek take on the sword and sandal genre than a sword and sorcery genre. Seeing, Ancient Greek myths like the Minotaur and the Labyrinth in a medieval settling was somewhat bizarre. The film gets even more stupid with the simpleton plot that makes no sense. Why does the all-powerful Wizard need to sleep with the princess, so that he can birth a Dragon? Couldn't he just create a dragon, or better off, just ruled the world without one? Anyways, its makes no sense. The movie does have somewhat entertaining special effects, cool, over the top-gory action scenes, naked wood nymphs, and nice cartoony opening, but the majority of the film is focus on jokes that make people, miserable. For a film, titled 'Your Highness', you would think the movie would imply, a fun weed-laced romp through a fantasy realm, but surprising, there is very little pot humor in the movie. Maybe, the movie could have work better, if cut out the raunchy shock value humor for smart or Meta absurdity. Just saying. Overall: This movie is not worth going on crusade for. This movie deserves to be sacked. I don't recommended. I would rather go to Medieval Times than see this film, again. At least, they put up a decent show.

I have been watching this for 18 minutes and it is beyond awful. Special effects are not bad - humour is totally non-existent and I find it impossible to believe that anyone would stump up the money to make this rubbish. It seems actors are only any good when the material is good and this material is crap of the worst kind. James Franco,Charles Dance, Damian Lewis, Toby Jones, Natalie Portman are just a few of the fine actors that must have been blackmailed into performing in this insult to the intelligence. I have never seen Danny McBride before but I understand he is partly responsible for this foul mouthed trash. If I never see him again it will be too soon. it has no wit whatsoever - it would make almost anything seem like Shakespeare in comparison. Avoid at all costs only the extremely simple-minded would find anything to enjoy about this pile of ordure.
