You won't be disappointed!
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
The best part of the movie lies in the animation which was pretty good in the backgrounds of the city and the laboratory especially. The character animation had the same anime influence like in the admittedly superior Flashpoint Paradox, but I really liked it actually. Character designs like Superman and Cyborg were interesting and that of the former was different in an interesting way. But sadly much of the characterization of the League members were off. Wonder Woman had some really weird moments and seemed stripped from her usual dignity, Green Lantern was annoying and had the dumbest dialogue of the members. I actually liked how Superman was characterized. I know he was much out of chatracter if we look at his usual behaviour, but to be honest I have never been a huge fan of him, so personally I welcomed it. Cyborg and Batman were the best characters. The backstory of Cyborg was interesting and his transformation was awesome. Batman was the most true to his roots of character and while not a Kevin Conroy he was well acted by Jason O'Mara. Darkseid was pretty intimidating, but aside from that he was disappoitingly one-dimensional and didn't have that much of screen time before the great takedown which by the way was awesome.Yes, "Justice League: War" was kind of a middle of the road effort and lacking in characterizations and dialogue, but had great animation and action scenes.
I was not a fan of the New 52. Other than Wonder Woman, I didn't care for the way they did it. This, the origin of the New Justice League, is based on the opening arc where they battle Darkseid and the forces of Apokolips. Just OK.
This movie seems to be another retelling of the DC characters' origin, especially Cyborg's. Maybe it's gotten to the point where I've seen so many of these movies that I'm not that impressed with them anymore. Don't get me wrong, this is still enjoyable. It's still not that unique. It makes you wonder what costume Wonder Woman will wear next. I really do like the stuff with her and the ice cream. In this movie, we get to see Desaad, Darkseid's assistant, for the first time. It's weird to see Darkseid as literally a giant. Hey, I remember whose parademons from the end of "Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox"! Dang, I'm just becoming more familiar with superheroes constantly. The animation was very slick. I think this might be the first time any animated superhero movie included the word "shit". Well, everything is PG-13 including the cartoon movies nowadays! The fight scenes are always great and while the characterizations aren't that perfect, we still get some good study of the characters. Are these movies ever going to run out of different animation styles? Just how many different times can you reimagine Batman and Superman? ***
Everything is a meh, except for Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. For God's sake, Superman is the symbol of hope, I remember Superman as a child as modest, friendly, and cooperative. This new Superman is nothing be an arrogant idiot.Wonder Woman...I don't even know what to say. This WW is a stupid 4-year-old girl who just happens to have fighting abilities. As for Green Lantern...let me quote his own script "I've got a universe to protect!" This Green Lantern, not only arrogant and foolish, is way too weak than the Green Lantern I remember. According to the abilities he showed in this movie, I assume that not only Batman, probably Nightwing could kick his ass.As for plot...is there even a plot for the movie?
