I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

In all fairness to the original Friday the 13th, the enormous success of the franchise really started with the sequel Ft13th Part II. Icon Jason Vorhees makes his first appearance in the sequel and obviously from here on out, Jason goes down into slasher lore as one of the great horror movie characters. Part II is a great film to kick back and collect some 80's nostalgia. However, the film lacks quality writing, has a long-winded recap, a shoddy ode to a Texas Chainsaw Massacre character, and death sequences that are at times poorly executed. Also, Amy Steel, similarly to Adrienne King, didn't showcase a strong screen presence and is not as memorable as other "final girls" in slasher flicks. Aside from its problems, Friday the 13th Part II is an enjoyable film and is followed by a band of horror fans that are a lot more optimistic about the film than I as a viewer.

Jason Voorhees first movie with some impressive kills and would show the start of a slasher powerhouse who was more of a bumbling idiot with a sack over his head then a killer who would scare you to death but this was his first outing so it was still good to go back to the basics of slashers. there was a large cast of characters who were all camp councilors in training most notably Ginny the final girl played by Amy Steel her character uses her child psychology against Jason and it becomes important to stop Jason. There was many call backs to the original movie and the intro into the movie is a follow up to the end of the movie and we get to see a special appearance from Alice the final girl from the first movie it was also nice to see the return of MRS Voorhees well her head at least. overall it was an enjoyable movie in the franchise and it comes very close to being as good as the original although it still was different and the start of something amazing.

"Friday the 13th--Part 2" is a worthwhile film for horror fans. True, it's quality is not on par with "The Exorcist", but the film does try to incorporate a deeper context, even some sympathy, around the iconic villain, Jason. The audience is even provided with an idea of how Jason has been surviving in the wilderness. In this sequel, a group of teenage counselors are attending a counselors' training camp near Crystal Lake, five years after the events in the first movie. Jason begins to target the interlopers using a diversity of tools and methods that keep each kill scene fresh. Near the climax of the film, we get to see that he is concealing his face with a burlap sack (the hockey mask doesn't appear until later films) which adds a strong menacing air to the character. One negative, in my opinion, is the extended dream sequence at the beginning of the film composed of snippets from the first film. I know that the purpose behind this was to review what had previously happened, but it seemed pointlessly long unless it was also a means of making the film a bit longer. Also, there were several jump scares which I consider a cheap way of exciting an audience's reaction. I personally prefer a buildup of authentic tension, but that is generally not the way in which 80s slasher films are built.Slasher films like this aren't meant to be thought about too deeply, but I do appreciate the effort to build a stronger story about the villain. Overall, this is a decent sequel and a worthwhile film for classic horror fans.

Friday the 13th part 2 is my actual favorite of the series due to the excellent story that takes place five years after the original story. Jason is revealed to have grown up in the woods around the camp, now wearing a potato sack on his head, to cover his deformed face as he stalks or kills anyone who dares to come around the lake. He was there the night his mother was beheaded and collected it for a shrine he set up in a shack for his victims. The sack used really conveys an inhumane creature that keeps coming at you like an endless loop nightmare and makes sense from a logical point since he prefers the forest and can gather only what is available. It's one of the reasons that I love this sequel and think it adds to the scare factor you expect in a horror film. The pitchfork seemed like an effective weapon that would last and become a trade mark instead of the machete that would rust and be hard to replace. I even own the box figure with all the accessories included and it's a treasure. I like the little campfire scene where the legend of Jason is discussed and leads to a prank that could disastrously go wrong. It is camp Crystal Lake after all.The one problem I had with it is that there are to many characters here, most disappearing half way through the film and most killed in succession not leaving time for much development of who they are. I like to feel emotion for the characters being stalked so I can root for or feel sad for them when they die or get away. One of the things I think future script writers learned from this and use the bigger caste to its advantage in later sequels. Yes, it's a trade mark like the mask. One of the most haunting and memorable scenes of the entire series is where one counselor Jenny finds the shack and pretends to be his dead mother. She places on the sweater while the floating head of Betsy Palmer commands her son to kneel so that he can follow in her footsteps and lose his head. I can't tell you how many times I rewound it and watch this scene with pure shock at the creative engines in place to produce it. It makes it stand out from the other generic run of the mill slashers and burned a permanent image in my head.Just like the first it ends in a dream sequence and leaves the mystery of several characters in desolation. Is muffin still alive? Did Jason really kill Paul or did he run him off and call for help? These questions leave you wondering and wanting more.
