Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

"Diabelska edukacja" or "Devilish Education" is a co-production between Poland and Germany that resulted in a Polish-language movie back in 1995, which means this one is already over 20 years old. The writer and director is Janusz Majewski and his work here is a tale on how the devil meets a young maiden and they keep doing many not so innocent things. For Majewski, it is already one of his later career works, even if he is still alive today, way into his 80s. I personally think the casting was great here. Dancewicz looks as stunning as one could and is perfect for the part. Kondrat is an equally good decision and he embodies this diabolic aura pretty nicely. The scene including splendor in the grass were as nice to watch as everything else. Then again, these scene were pretty much the entire movie if you ignore the moments at the end that give us a nice insight into how slut shaming was already present and despicable during the time when the film is set. So yeah, I certainly enjoyed this film a lot and the female protagonist's body is certainly a piece of art. Makes me a bit sad to see this one pretty underrated here on IMDb and also definitely underseen. The consequence is that it also did not receive any awards attention at all. I highly highly recommend checking it out though. As good as it gets for a film that runs for only under half an hour. Very much worth seeing and I also think this is a bit of a romantic movie and a good watch for couples, on Valentine's Day perhaps and it may also get you in the mood. Besides that, one of the most interesting aspects here is the approach to the Devil that he is not evil or a sinister character, just that he is everything that God isn't and this film is certainly critical towards God looking at how the fact that confessions should be secret means nothing in here and the townsfolk keeps gossiping. You could certainly make a statement for the Devil being the good guy in here as he is the one giving the girl pleasure and happiness. So what are you waiting for? Check it out, preferably on a big screen as these vast green fields would certainly be nice to watch at a theater. Oh yeah, last statement: There is also a handful pretty funny moments, like the one with the prima donna or the camera position of the examination at the very end almost and a really interesting final scene when the devil and girl meet again that offers lots of room for interpretation and discussion. Everybody sees something different in it I'm sure. Highly highly recommended, one of the best short films from the 1990s.

The plot of this 28 minute short is hackneyed stuff about the devil appearing in disguise to a young maiden just awakening to her sexuality. However it is carried along by the shimmering sensuality of the photography, the lushness of the art direction and the ravishing beauty of Renata Dancewicz as the maiden of the title. Worth a look when it pops up on TV, typically as a part of an "Erotic Tales" series of shorts.

Even though it doesn't last a half-hour, this Polish/German short is still quite memorable. Beautiful Renata Dancewicz gives a wonderful performance as a young woman who clearly longs for more than the farm life, and Marek Kondrat is also great as the Devil. It would have been great to see this as a full-length feature, especially since it was such a relaxing film to watch, but this is still most definitely worth a look, even with the short running time.
