Memorable, crazy movie
Fantastic!
Excellent, Without a doubt!!
An Exercise In Nonsense
The film is wonderfully crafted. The film is combination of great comic timing by Sanjay Dutt playing the character Munna Bhai and a little romance and some emotional moments. Circuit played by Arshad Warsi done an amazing work. The music is good. Rajkumar Hirani (director) is a smart film director and made this film so wonderfully that one can relate to the plot. No body can able to hate this film as it is so good.
Murli Prasad Sharma (Sanjay Dutt), nicknamed "Munna Bhai" (literally "Brother Munna") is a bhai or gunda: a crime don in the Mumbai underworld. Given that his father had wished him to be a medical doctor, he creates the faux Sri Hari Prasad Sharma Charitable Hospital (named after his father) and pretends to live in accordance with this wish whenever his father (Sunil Dutt) and mother (Rohini Hattangadi) visit him in Mumbai. One year, however, Munna's plan goes awry when Hari meets an old acquaintance, Dr. Asthana (Boman Irani) and the two older men decide to betroth Munna to Asthana's daughter, Dr. Suman "Chinki" (Gracy Singh). At this point the truth about Munna is revealed. Asthana insults Munna's parents and calls them "fools" for being ignorant of Munna's real life. Munna's father and mother, aghast and later heartbroken, leave for their village.Munna, in grief and despair, decides that the only way to redeem himself and to gain revenge for the humiliation suffered by his father at the hands of the spiteful Ashthana is to become a doctor. He decides to go to a medical college to obtain an MBBS degree. With the help of his right-hand man Circuit (Arshad Warsi) and others, Munna "gains admission" to a medical college, where he again encounters Dr. Asthana, who is the dean. His success there becomes dependent upon the (coerced) help of faculty member Dr. Rustam Pavri (Kurush Deboo).
That's precisely why MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S. works! Munnabhai lives with his gang in the by lanes of a washer man in Mumbai, takes pride in being a 'social worker'they actually settle 'financial disputes' through bossing around and enjoys his booze, babes, brawls? Munna's father, Hari Prasad Sharma , an upright, moralistic man, believes that his son is actually a doctor running a charity hospital. Every year, when his parents arrive, Munna and his gang bathe, shave, don white coats and stethoscopes and pretend to be diligent doctors. But the clever charade falls apart. Hari Prasad Sharma runs into an old friend, Dr. Asthana, who has a daughter called Suman . The two decide that their children, both doctors, would make a perfect match. Munna tries hard to save the situation, but his father discovers the truth. And all hell breaks loose.
MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S. is worth watching movie. Moments that you carry home after the show has ended. Rajkumar Hirani's strength lies in the fact that he has extracted wonderful performances from just about everyone in the film, not just from the principal cast. The screenplay could've been tighter. The film has engaging moments in abundance, but the goings-on could've been concise towards the second half. Dialogues are commendable, especially the ones delivered by Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi. Cinematography is good. If VAASTAV was a turning point in Sanjay Dutt's fluctuating career, another film that will make people sit up and notice his talent is MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S. Known as an 'action man' all through his career, the actor proves with this performance. He is lovable as a bhai, aspiring to be a doctor and equally impactful towards the end when death snatches away one of the patients (Jimmy Shergill). A good performance undoubtedly!Sunil Dutt is such a pleasure to watch after a hiatus. The small but significant role remains etched due to this veteran's expert portrayal. In fact, this is the second time the father and son have starred in a film and the moments they share on screen look straight out of life, especially the hug (jadoo ki jhappi) in the climax. Gracy Singh is first-rate, delivering a controlled performance. The actress is getting better with every release. Jimmy Shergill & Boman Irani is also good.
