Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
I found this movie very interesting and fun and i love Nikki Reed in this. It had me glued from start to finish. Very good performance from all characters. It made me laugh and shocked me a little also. I didn't think i was going to like it but surprisingly it was a really good movie. I would definitely recommend it if you like dark comedy.
Mini (Nikki Reed) is bored with her life. Her mother Diane (Carrie-Anne Moss) is a boozing gold-digger. Her latest catch is her stepfather Martin (Alec Baldwin). Mini is always looking for challenging "Firsts" and joins an escort service. Her client turns out to be her stepfather Martin. They begin a secret affair behind her mother's back and then scheme to get rid of her. This tries to be a black comedy. It tries and tries but can't quite get there. The writing has nothing new and lacks funny jokes. The biggest problem may be Nikki Reed. She looks sexy in skimpy outfits but doesn't excel in comedic roles. She's better as the femme fatale. The movie is not quite dark enough to push the envelop of black comedies. This is all very familiar and simply less than good.
What do you get when you mix together portions of " Gaslight ", " Double Indemnity ", " Lolita ", " Body Heat ", & " Wild Things "? You get " M.F.T ", a film in which the main characters are all devoid of moral compasses, or any other redeeming qualities. It also appears that Nikki Reed is well on her way to building her entire career on playing the same ' Sly-Slinky-Sexpot-Macchiavelian-Puppetmaster ' Character over and over again. But because she really does play it so well, and, yes, because she is so $@#%-ing Hot, she can pull it off! ;-)M
I can't believe how awful this movie was. It is the kind of movie that makes you feel guilty for watching it because it is so, so sleazy. Okay, Mini had a dysfunctional mother, but that's no excuse for her despicable behaviour. She seems to have no sense of right and wrong and no conscience whatsoever. All the characters in this movie are so thoroughly unlikeable that you really don't care what happens to them, you only hope it happens soon. For the life of me, I can't understand why Mr. Baldwin would stoop so low as to appear in something as bad as this film. Surely he doesn't need money as badly as all that. The constant voice-over from the talent-challenged actress who played Mini is a constant annoyance. I think you are supposed to feel sorry for the step father character, but I sure didn't. My advice to anyone would be save your money, don't waste your time and don't watch this dreadful movie as you will surely feel cheated.
