This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.

This movie is not about rich people. It's about family problems. The entertaining way to tell a story is to make caricature characters and make them go through a plot such as D3. Zoya and Rima does just that.I could relate to Ranveer's character so it made the movie even more fun to watch. Chip on your shoulder, the family prestige, even though you think you are meant for other things in life. The game playing he does in this movie also shows that people like his character and me are not ready to be fully adults. That's one of the problems! Because age wise, we are already adults. This movie also has another lead. The sister of Ranveer played by Priyanka Chopra.Through her we see that women liberation is still fighting to get equal footing. It does not matter if you were born in he slum or. in her case, a mansion.I really liked the curve balls through at her character and how gracefully she overcame them.Looking at the parents, reminded me of mine. Bias, sometimes horrifyingly selfish and borderline mean. But that's the thing. They are humans too. Not just our parents. We come to realize this as the movie progresses. Shefali Shah is an amazing talent and on par with Anil Kapoor. They both do an amazing job! The looks of this film! It was a treat to watch the cinematography! I don't know how Zoya does it. But she does this quite well : She adds lots of colors to the screen, but still keeps it classy. Not tacky. But how? Now that's magic. The music is good. I still listen to Pehli Baar late at night when I am busy working. Bring mojo to my work.Phir Bhi Yeh Zindagi is a heart cracking song. It should get to you. It's a humane song. This movie is golden. Society will judge us either way. Rich people actually have more to loose because of the invisible prestige they carry and are subject to scrutiny by peers and alike just as anyone. Even their family. But you get one life you live. You got to let your heart beat...

first of all, this is my first review on IMDb. . the movie is very interesting.. basically about problem of rich people in India... so many stuff in one movie... yes, its little bit long . but believe me once you start watching movie you don't want that this movie ends.. its about India, where divorce is a very big issue.. some family problems, a son should do his business. a rich girl cant marry a poor guy.. its so real.. you can feel it... just watch this.. and the way the movie start.. the story telling was very awesome.. and the cruise <3 .. all awesome and real actors.. some new faces... beautiful girls like pc and anushka.. many comedy scene.. a perfect family watch.. yes 2 kiss scene . but its OK.. i rated this movie 9/10.. because there is not a one scene that i don't liked... a 18 and i am year teen who just love watching movies.. so sorry for my spelling mistakes and my poor English.

Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadkane Do is a beautiful film, with amazing performances and very good direction. The whole story is narrated by a dog, Pluto Mehra, and is about a troubled urban family and their problems. Anil Kapoor in his role as a strict father is very good, supported by Shefali Shah. Ranveer SIngh and Priyanka Chopra steals the show, Farhan Akhtar and Anushka Sharma also did their parts very well. The story and screenplay are good and the film is perfectly paced. Yes it is 3 hour long but I don't remember any scene which I felt inappropriate except those terrible dance sequences.I particularly liked the cinematography and editing of the film, which are very exceptional and praiseworthy. However, the film fails to make an overall impact. Yes the ending is apt but it is not satisfying. I just expected a suitable, meaningful ending if not philosophical but they just ended in the same clichéd bollywood style which I think killed the soul of the film.Special mention : The narration and the dialogue are exceptionally good. Superb Writing.

What got me into the theatre for this movie was the fully-loaded star-cast and the look of the movie. The trailer reminded me of Zoya's previous - Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, which in spite of its widespread appeal was sort of a rip-off of Dil Chahta Hai.Half an hour into the movie you realize this movie is totally pretentious. Everybody is shown as ultra-rich, larger than life with their first world problems. The backgrounds and locations (ooh...Turkey...because I already did Spain in my last movie) have to be fancy as if the Director is telling you - "Hey! I am rich, surrounded by people from the movie industry and industrialists and I'll thus make my movies for them. There are no average earners or poor people in this country." You cannot possibly connect with any character in the movie. Let me rip into the characters one by one now that I have finished ranting about the movie - 1. Anil Kapoor - The ABSOLUTE WORST thing in this movie. All those articles praising his performance were paid pieces. He has "fake" written all over him in this movie. 2. Shefali Chaayaa - Boring throughout the movie, playing the ignored wife. Reminds me of her role in that two decade old drama called Hasretein on Zee TV. 3. Priyanka Chopra - She looks different and I do not mean that in a good way. Her acting is flimsy too. She should stick to singing and do her US TV shows/appearances. 4. Anushka Sharma - Yes. She had to be a hot bikini wearing and sleeping around Muslim dancer estranged from her family. Way to go Zoya in creating a fictional character. 5. Rahul Bose - Jeez. An impossible character whom can you see only in movies like this. They made a cartoon out of him. 6. Farhan Akhtar - Oh...he has to be creative and free-willing type in keeping with his Rock On! image and being the Director's brother. He is at least better than the ones above. 7. Ranveer Singh - By far the best thing in this otherwise pathetic movie. His acting and comic timing are perfect. Again, his characterization is flawed but his performance makes up for it. 8. Some British-Indian cute-face - She's there to add to the "fair" quotient. 9. The gnawing voice of the dog - It wasn't a couple of months later that I realized that it was Aamir's voice. Mr. Perfectionist can make mistakes too - Dhoom 3 and this movie, for example.
