While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.

The movie was very good with good acting by all the actors. Songs and BGM in the movie was very good. Everyone acted very well in the movie.

A decade ago, the same pair for a film would have been a laughing stock. The main factor was the chemistry between them, which is now improved a lot. Particularly Dhanush whose stardom rose into the sky high. I am talking about Dhanuhs-Trisha combo. They were good in this film, but the nature of their roles was another advantage to work out so well. Not very romantic as if you had thought that way, but it was about politics and achieving their goals at any cost.So this is the story of the twin brothers, who were born and raised in the political influenced family. Since their father lost his life for a good cause during political struggle, one of the brothers got interested in his father's path from the young age. The story is to reveal his ambitions and the secret romance with an opposition party member. On the other side his innocent brother having his way of life which disturbs after something went wrong. With a twist, the narration shifts to thriller in its final act till the conclusion.The actors' presence made this film watchable. The direction was average. The writing was not good. So much cliché, that straightly borrowed from the 90s Kollywood films. Though, overall the messages were good in a few parts. But sometimes overshadowed by commercial elements like unwanted punchlines, unrealistic fights and slow- motion clips in this modern era of the film world. Particularly, as usual, the songs were the big drawback. If you are an Indian and Tamilan, then you have a chance to enjoy it, due to familiarity with the concept of the film and the culture that depicted in the film. For an outsider, the 80 per cent of the film does not make any sense. But even for the native viewers, I would say choose it carefully, because it is not a must see.6/10

Kodi(2016): National Award Winner,Dhanush is one of the few actors of South India who has both mass and class following.His performance is most lauded in all his movies and now he came with Kodi which is special for him as he acted in dual role for the first time.As his previous 3 movies (Maari,Thangamagan,Thodari) gave bad results,let's see whether this Kodi brought him success..Plot: Set against a rural backdrop, the film reveals what really goes on behind the murky and manipulative game of politics.Dhanush plays a dual role -- an aggressive politician Kodi and his twin brother Anbu, who is an intelligent, meek college professor.Kodi is determined to make it big in the world of politics but his biggest opponent is his girlfriend Rudra (Trisha). Both belong to different political parties and are arch rivals but don't allow their political differences to interfere with their love life.Things begin to get messy when both are chosen as the MLA candidates for their constituency.Rudra makes public a privately shared moment with Kodi to gain political mileage. Kodi is furious and strikes back.Their secret relationship is now exposed and both are in trouble with their party leaders.Due to unexpected circumstances ,Anbu gets involved in this who is in love with Malathi (Anupama). Why is Anbu involved in this political conspiracy and who won the elections??Is it Kodi or Rudra??Plus Points: 1)Performances: If Dhanush stars in a movie,we need not to specially mention about his performance.As usually Dhanush is the major highlight of the movie with his energetic performance.The way he showcases superb variations in both his characters is just amazing.Trisha as a heartless power-hungry politician is decent.Anupama is cute and gave good performance.2)Screenplay and Direction: Kodi has engaging screenplay through out the movie.Director has succeeded in making an interest political thriller without missing commercial elements.Durai Senthil must be appreciated for bringing a good political thriller in these days.3)Music: Santhosh Narayan songs are brilliant but lyrics are very bad.Listen to them in Tamil,you will love it.Kodi theme,El Suzhali are chart busters.Background Score is brilliant..Minus Points: 1)Climax: Climax is big letdown for this movie.It should have ended thrilling but director ended it abruptly in regular format.2)Lyrics: A I have said earlier,Lyrics are terrible which may affect the songs.So,Kodi is an interesting political thriller which are very rare these days.Dhanush's performance,engaging screenplay and brilliant music makes this movie worth watchingMy rating 7.25/10

A Political drama set in village background with good dose of commercial elements. Dhanush never done this kind of role previously people see a new angle in Dhanush acting in this movie. Santosh Narayan music and background scores are plus points in this movie.Director R.S. Durai Senthilkumar had done a good job in this movie he never made audience feel boring in his previous movies Ethir Neechal and Kaaki Sattai too . There are no scenes in this movie to make audience dizzy. Kodi surely is a block buster of this Deepawali. As a fan of Dhanush i feel satisfied for this stuff in this movie. I was much dissatisfied with his previous releases but Kodi is a relief from both of these movies.
