The Philadelphia Experiment
A secret government research project tries reviving the World War II "Philadelphia Experiment," which was an attempt to create a cloaking device to render warships invisible. When the experiment succeeds, it brings back the original ship (the Eldridge) that disappeared during the first test in 1943 - which brings death and destruction to the 21st century. It's up to the sole survivor of the first experiment and his granddaughter to stop it.

I'll tell you why so serious
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
I truly revile stories where people have meaningless dialogue. If you are told by the resident expert on a subject that bombing something will a) not harm it, and b) will rebound and cause 10-fold damage to the surrounding area, and then you do it anyway, and it turns out the expert is right, along with destroying a nuclear power reactor (and presumably a large chunk of the UK?), then having a character continue on their stupid course of action persistently, and murdering everyone who might actually be useful, makes for a very stupid character. This film is 2 hours watching a very stupid character, and being annoyed at the consequences.
Attempting to watch this movie did 2 things... It made me waste 80 minutes of my life that could have been used for something totally useless... and it wasted the $3 I paid for the DVD in the "bargain" bin. Having a civilian streetwalker "in charge" with the authority to go "nuclear" is just 1 blip on the idiocy meter, constant CGI "disintegrations/absorbtions (depending on the character) leaves one wondering "HUH"? why did he get absorbed and they get disintegrated... It is not often I get riled up about my wasting time, or wasting nominal amounts of cash, unfortunately, this movie did just that. I'd rather watch GALAXINA (yuckkk...)
I've seen a lot worse than this movie. It's sort of a remake of the old movie of the same name which was definitely better and more engaging. Still, it's visually gorgeous to see the destroyer fall from the sky. To add my own cliché to the movie's, I'd say they built them destroyers well in those days. Unfortunately, the movie is marred by the usual government killers trying to hush the whole thing down with bullets, which is ridiculous when the famous ship happens to fall down on the roof of a skyscraper in the middle of Chicago. It would have been nice to see a movie without this military idiocy let loose. Don't we have enough already in the real world? They could have done a better story with this but decided to go with the tried and wrong. Of course I knew from the start that the bad guys (and girl) would be dealt with and that the good guys (and gorgeous blonde)would make it through. The action is constant, though tedious at times. But we have one of the greatest inventions of all time: a remote with fast forward speed command. That helps wasting time faster. Still, I give it a 6. I have a strange nostalgia for old warships, even if I've never been on one.
Has everything considering the REAL Philadelphia Experiment was actually a real top secret event that has come to be known to the public through the years. This "SYFY Channel Original" leaves off where the original 1984 film did, and is impressive for a SYFY low-budget film not to be confused with SCI-Fi Channel original channel title; which was a completely different Era in Sci-Fi films, where you couldn't discern Low-budget films from high budget.Of course, from an actor point-of-view -which is higher judging ability; which this review is of course - the 80's through the 90's had superior talent industry in general not to be confused with todays "Disney channel actors"; case & point. The old pro actors had such a dry script however, they pulled-off a decent Sci-Fi film because the true Philedelphia event as mentioned before in fact occurred even according to the Government and military records which cannot be falsified; case & point. Truths isn't conjured-up to be entertainment, that's why all these films on the Philadelphia military Experiment are not so "Hollywood" bull jacked up and is what made this movie work.Only thing the script could have improved upon like all documentary based stories is to give us some real answers on the event finally NOT fictional ones that end like a Kevin Trudea installment where your left with more questions then answers.
