Very well executed
To me, this movie is perfection.
This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Rave to the grave is another made for TV production that tried to be a direct continuation from four and failed miserably. All the kids, even the dead ones, are now in college going to parties, falling in love and trying new drugs. The gang even witnesses the undead attacking and think its a Halloween prank. I could buy that if Necrophilis hasn't feature them deal with these creatures before, but since they have they could've been more cautious or investigated further into the matter instead of letting it go.Trioxine has been converted by a school lab into a highly lethal drug once taken gives you the ultimate high until your consumed by the urge to eat brains. I like the idea they were going for, return the series back to its roots, with punk rock teenagers who like to party yet the execution was off from all humor thrown in. Every time a zombie bite someone they were played for laughs or when was stalking near at the big rave an extra would compliment them on their killer costume. The music consisted mostly of rap which isn't my bag and dates it a bit in terms of what year its suppose to be.Whatever happened between the break in between the films the chemistry they once had is gone and now feels artificial and phoney. Though it tried to capture what ever spark the last one had it didn't cut it in humor or horror and was a flop. Time to leave the zombies in the graveyard until a truly exceptional script comes along to revive them once more.
"Return of the Living Dead: Rave to the Grave" should never have seen the light of day. It most definitely isn't a worthy way of closing Down the "Return of the Living Dead" franchise. It felt wholly like and awkward attempt to squeeze every last drop of money out of the franchise name. But this abysmal movie is more of a thorn in the side than it is a final nail in the coffin. Not only is the movie plagued by an awful storyline, but also permeated by a feel of no one actually believing in the project, ranging from the writers to the post production staff.A gallery of uninteresting characters, mediocre acting and a surprisingly lack of proper zombies results in a most disappointing movie. The only good thing about it is that the 'tar zombie' makes a glorious return and looking cooler than ever."Return of the Living Dead: Rave to the Grave" is a less than mediocre experience and hardly worth the time or effort, much less the money. It has been a steady slope downhill since part two. And this fifth and final movie is a shameful secret that should have been kept six feet under.
Gifted director Ellory Elkayem pulls off one of the most difficult feats in cinema in bringing to the screen one of the most clever dark comedies in some time. Using his camera like a finely tuned instrument, he creates an atmosphere that is both sinister and outrageous simultaneously. He skilfully incorporates Romanian locations into the film and makes the slightly foreign background work for him in many of his most visionary shots. Aaron Stongoni and William Butler must be given due credit for supplying Elkayem with a script that is quite dark yet manages to be uproariously funny as well. Although the entire cast have superlative comic abilities, Peter Coyotee is a standout in a rare funny turn as Uncle Charley, one of the most memorable characters he has played on screen in years. For the entire movie, there is barely a missed opportunity to bring on the belly laughs while scaring us half to death in the process. Do not miss the closing shot, one of the truly hilarious final scenes in cinema and one that is sure to elicit side- splitting spasms. In its own way, it is as brave as the lengthy dramatic shots that close Carol Reed's classic, The Third Man, and Antonioni's Jack Nicholson masterpiece, The Passenger. But Elkayem is a courageous film maker who takes a swing and hits it out of the park like those aforementioned great auteur's. It is a bold choice and has all the impact of the last line of Billy Wilder's comedy jewel, Some Like It Hot. It is quite refreshing indeed to see a creative director risk doing something so stunningly original.
When i saw this movie, it wasn't as good as 1,3 and 4 to me. I don't hate this movie at all. I would love to have it in my movie collection, and I personally would recommend this movie. The acting of some characters were okay but I didn't mind it though.Spoiler:The only part I didn't like was when the zombie had a sign! It had little goofiness unlike part 2 where it had tons of it. Overall I like how this movie turned out. It's fun to watch. It still gives me the creeps. Lots of zombies. Good plot. Zombies in a rave. Zombies in a college dorm.
