It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.
This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
It's never good news when sequels are filmed back to back, but I truly love getting as deep as I can in many of these horror franchises. Before anyone gets their feathers ruffled over the 5 I'm giving this film, realize that I'm rating with the context in mind. This is not stacked up against every movie ever, or even every horror movie ever. In the world of straight to video sequels, I think this 5 is well deserved. Most of this movie is taken up with this sort of love triangle, which for some reason I found instantly vested in. Of all the mutations of relationships presented in horror movies, I thought that what the main girl and her handicapped boyfriend struggled through was conceivable and plausible. In many ways, this movie is more of a love story with horror elements than the other way around. There's some real sensitivity going on with this woman, and I spent most of the movie sympathizing with her and wondering where her emotional entanglements would lead her. This may not necessarily be a good thing when one is looking for a decent horror movie, but it caught my attention nonetheless.Sadly, about halfway through the film this potential gets completely wasted as the Djinn tries to figure out exactly what human love is. This concept in and of itself could have been inventive to play with, but instead it turns into this sort of muddy quest of enlightenment for a decidedly malevolent creature not of this world to understand a thing or two about mankind. On the horror front, the kills are pretty unoriginal and uninventive in becoming with all the sequels. Nothing new is added to the Djinn mythology, and the god-awful idea of Michael the angle sadly resurfaces from the previous film. And he's more of a vigilante or mercenary of god than any sort of angel. The thuggish demeanor and black and white personality of the angel leaves the Djinn the more human of the two. The film makers did a decent job of building up emotional suspense, but there aren't enough conventional horror elements to add up to much shock or surprise. For the "prophecy" to have finally been "fulfilled" it would have been gratifying to see a bunch of Djinn causing general destruction and mayhem, but nothing of any grandeur or finality is attempted. It's better than the second sequel, but we've got a long way to go to revive the cleverness and freshness of the Djinn. Oh, and if anyone even thinking of making another film reads this, please cut out all that god and man and earth and Djinn and fire and void s***. Everyone's heard it a thousand times, and it doesn't ever hold a bit of relevance to, well, anything.
Now I seen this movie , I said to my self, It's can not be jas bad as the last one and boy was I wrong, as it felt more of the same.I saw this back to back with 3rd movie yesterday, I Could not believe what I was watching .The plot was just unbelievable rubbish and this whole Angle thing was, just , I have no words for that. The movie was filled with silly fight scenes, that last way too long and are very predicable. One thing I did like was that there were some good bloody scenes. I didn't think Michael Trucco was decent in this role again the acting in this movie was not too bad.I thought it's was okay but I think they should have had better ending to the series overall.I am going give this 3 out of 10
Much better than the awful third outing. Wishmaster 4 does have a lot going for it, even though it doesn't have the means to execute all of its ideas. Wishmaster 4 sees the third wish get made, but it's a wish that causes conflict within the Djinn. A woman wishes to love him for who he is, which contradicts the whole of a wish. This is an interesting set-up and it also brings around other Djinn waiting to be released, causing even more conflict. One of the main characters happens to be a whiny cripple. One the kind that I'm sure mostly exist in films. It's an annoying character and hurts the romance stuff that's going on. The action isn't particularly well shot, which is a shame since we have some Djinn hunter and a sword fight or two. The gore is pretty nasty at times, so overall, this is the same old dumb fun.
Let's get down to the basics here: I've seen all four films and can tell you that this is a third sequel in every aspect; perhaps in the sternest form of the word sequel. The film is something fresh, something new and definetly something funny. If you're expecting to see the exact same thing as you did in the earlier films, go watch something else. Don't waste your time or money watching this film. This content of the film is completely new to the entire franchise. Don't get me wrong, as the basic premise is true as it can ever be: the waker has three wishes and at the end of the third wish of the waker, the Djinn race is freed. Of couse, the Djinn has to find the waker first. However, this particular installment of the film seems to have navigated further and further away from it's horror roots and now seeks to challenge the philosophical questions of love, desire, lust, God, money, wealth and death.I found the dialogue in the film that was directed toward God in bad taste, but that's just me. I also found myself laughing so hard at most of the film and its subject matter - it was hilarious! I can only hope that the humor was the intention. So why would film makers bother making a film like this? Perhaps they know how much people are obsessed with the Djinn and they want to tackle good and evil down to the bare roots and show a soft side of the Djinn. Maybe not - I really don't know. But there was a point where you feel really encouraged to root for the Djinn and hate the classical "good guys".However, I will repeat by saying that this film is not for everyone. Hardcore fans of the series will hate it. Open minded individuals familiar with the series will appreciate it for what it's worth. And most definetly, anyone who's ever been afraid of watching a horror film should use this film to break them into the genre. The sexual nature of the film isn't for children, but it's certainly horizons away from being scary.Overall this film is an enjoyable, pleasant film to watch. I recommend this film to anyone who wants to watch a horror film that will make them feel like a million bucks. I also recommend this film to heterosexual couples. Enjoy!
