Pretty Good
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
Very nice, an adult tale of time travel, "I'll Follow You Down" 2013 Written and Directed by Richie Mehta, and staring Haley Joel Osment and Gillian Anderson/ Spoiler alert ahead. well worth watching, give it a shot. Ever wonder what would happen if you changed a critical event in your life. Of course you have, its a basic time travel theme. This film starts with the disappearance of A brilliant scientist and loving husband and father. The twelve year aftermath full of heartbreak and fears, culminates with a clue to the missing fathers whereabouts. He took a trip back in time to meet Einstien. but never made it home. Mugged and murdered in the past. A situation the now much older son seeks to correct. He figures out his dad's plan, and in turn seeks to go back to warn his father. The movie is long on emotion, The questions it raises are valid. The movie lacks car chases, explosions of any kind, zero special effects. nor epic vistas, battles or aliens. Its ending packs a punch just the same.. Well acted all around. Unexpected thumbs up. I had not heard of this one.Be aware, It is slow paced.and anyone expecting thrills, should most likely look elsewhere. However if you are looking for a well told of how we cope with life, this gets Eight our of Ten "making things right", Stars
Aka Continuum according to Sky TV. A reasonable premise, ridiculously dealt with and typical of USA productions, beautifully filmed to give a gloss that just isn't deserved. And slow! I had 3-cups of tea whilst watching, just to have something of interest to do. Imagine a Physics genius who invents a time travel machine in order to go on holidays,(dropping in on Albert Einstein for no good reason), without his wife knowing as she'd really rather stay at home. Little wonder Gillian Anderson committed suicide 1/2-way through - Surprised she could stand the boredom for so long. A starry cast having to deal with this crap: how I sympathise with the three main leads. Now, I have a much better idea than you watching the movie. Pick a wall in your house that needs decorating and buy good quality paint and brushes. Or a felt roller. Modern emulsions (and don't let your emulsions rum away with you - joke) dry quickly. No, not for painting over the many holes in the plot but just watch the paint dry, 89 minutes should do it. You'll thank me for this one day.
My dad was flipping through movies on Amazon and came across this one. As a fan of Gillian Anderson, I was surprised I'd never heard of this movie before. We decided to watch it and weren't disappointed. I had no expectations going in, and I ended up enjoying the movie for what it is. The acting was good, as well as the characters. I didn't expect the whole time travel thing, so that was a pretty cool development. Side note: just a warning for those who have a hard time with the subject of suicide- there is a suicide in this movie. You don't actually see the act, but you see when the body is discovered and it's a very emotional scene.
I admit that I am fascinated by the whole idea of time travel, so I watched "I Will Follow You Down" with great interest.Marika (Gillian Anderson) and her son Erol drop their husband and father off at the airport when he travels to a conference in New Jersey. He never returns.Twelve years later, Erol (now Haley Joel Osment) learns not only what happened to his father, but also learns that there may be a way to get him back. This film starts slowly but still manages to draw you in. It deals with not only time travel, but the ramifications of a situation change because of time travel. The acting is very good, with Osment turning in a top performance. Gillian Anderson is full of surprises - from X-Files to work in England, including a highly-touted Streetcar Named Desire - she's obviously a dedicated performer, and it shows here.I liked it - you care about the characters, and the story is good. Can't ask for much more.
