This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

This is a romance comedy with a fantasy element. The actors are good but the story isn't strong enough to sustain the movie. Sienna is quite a good actress and a surprisingly convincing white trash although she is a bit too pretty to be so hard up. Didin't know she was quite versatile. James Franco is good but his lines are exaggerated. In fact both of them have such annoying roles. Carradine is quite good too. The only humor comes from the "Death Becomes Her" type jokes about decaying bodies. The romance is just so strained and annoying. The plot really falls apart later on and lacks even an allegorical logic. Don't bother with this dud even if you are a fan of the actors.

The less you know about the plot, the better. The best way to enjoy this movie is to just expect a fairytale. Be ready for a crazy, surreal, comedic & romantic story, and don't try to rationalize any of the wacky things that happen.I picked up this DVD for $2 at my local Blockbuster, and if you hurry down to yours there may be a few left in the bargain bin. You'll get your money's worth and then some! Packaged as a romantic comedy about a good girl & a bad boy, the description hardly begins to scratch the surface. But I have to commend the DVD distributors for not giving away the story. The fun is when it hits you and you realize what an original, cute & slightly creepy story this is. And the humour follows brilliantly. I advise you not to even watch the trailer (which gives away the story somewhat).Still, you're probably wondering what the heck this movie is about. I won't say, but you can probably compare it to such surreal modern fantasies as "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", "Stranger than Fiction", "Being John Malkovich" and an obscure gem called "Grand Theft Parsons". All these excellent films share the common approach of dealing with heavy, soul-searching themes in light-hearted ways. They make you think about your life & your philosophy of living, or... you could just enjoy some laughs & silly times. There's something in it for everyone."Camille" is rated PG-13 and even that is a bit stern. There's no nudity, no gratuitous sex or violence, and hardly any profanity that I can remember. Compared to other modern rom-coms, it may seem watered down to some, but to me it was even more refreshing. Like a fairytale, there's something about it that makes you feel like a kid again, even though the story can get pretty weird. The acting & casting is perfect. Sienna pulls off the lead role of being a hopelessly cheerful girl without being sappy or annoying. Her beau is the perfect counterpart: a cynical rogue but with a boyish innocence and cute crooked smile that makes you instantly like him, even when he's being a total butt. And David Carradine as the wise- yet-kooky cowboy... wow, what can I say but he has a great comedy career ahead of him if he chooses to go that way.So don't hesitate to go see this film. It's a rom-com, a road movie, an emotional drama, a fantasy & above all else a fairytale. If more movies were like this, I'd probably start going to the theater again.

This is one of the movies Netflix recommended for me, based on my viewing habits. Saw it via streaming video.Sienna Miller is Camille and James Franco is Silias. He is mostly an idiot, a petty thief that is just getting out of jail. Somehow he is required to marry her, and make her happy, otherwise her uncle, Scott Glenn as Sheriff Foster, will see to it that he goes to jail for a long, long time.So Silas unhappily marries Camille, who is just bubbly and happy. Too bubbly and happy, Silas just wants her to shut up, quit talking all the time, and quit telling strangers everything about them.To say this is an unconventional love story is a big understatement. It caught me off guard, but I stuck with it and was entertained. The late David Carradine is also a quirky character, Cowboy Bob, traveling around to small town fairs with his painted horses.SPOILERS FOLLOW: Sheriff Foster sends the newlyweds off towards Niagra Falls on his motorcycle equipped with a side car. Camille is a bit frivolous, and her timing often sucks, as when she is playing with her diamond ring, it falls to the road, she panics Silas, to avoid hitting a big truck they fly off the road, he is injured and, we soon find out, she is dead. But she wakes up to be able to move and speak, so they continue on. But she soon starts to smell bad, her hair falls out, Silas realizes she is dead, but they press on to the Falls. Soon the cops are chasing them, Silas is cornered and shot, he dies as he is also reunited with Camille, they both go over the rail into the Falls riding the blue horse. The whole escapade has made Silas fall in love with Camille and both now dead will spend eternity together. Very quirky and whimsical.

What do you do with an overbearing bride on her wedding night? You kill her, of course. Problem is: she won't die. Problems, problems and more problems when the groom starts to fall in love with …a corpse? Solution: maintain calm and continue on your honeymoon to Niagara Falls with your new wife who has a knack of coming back to life at, of course, inopportune moments.Camille is an enchanting exercise into fantasy. Mr. Franco scores a near-perfect performance as the new and most hesitant groom. The title character is portrayed by Sienna Miller. Ms. Miller's transformation from grueling, controlling, uber-bride bitch to loving, yet fragile (and dead) woman is superb. Her translation and interpretation of Camille is easy and fun to witness. It's always a simple pleasure to find a little gem like Camille.
