Better Late Then Never
Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
An above average zombie film with a decent plot. If one enjoys zombie films, give this one a try. "The Horde" contains all the elements of George Romero's best zombie films (and if you're a fan of zombie films, there's no point in listing Romero's classics). On the other hand, this is why I didn't give the film a higher score, because Romero's done it all before. Oh, well, Let the heads roll, and the blood flow!!
a group of crooked cops decide to avenge the murder of one of their own by killing the gangsters responsible. when they go to the gang's hideout however, they are quickly overcome by the men they came to kill. before the cops can be killed, a zombie outbreak in the city reaches the building they are in, and both groups are forced to work together to survive and escape. The Horde is a french movie with subtitles, which i thought would put me off at first, but i,m glad i stuck with it as i really enjoyed it. the zombies are fast moving and vicious, and the action is fast and furious with the movie moving at a quick pace. gorehounds will be happy too because their is blood, and plenty of it.it's a shame that the zombie outbreak is never really explained, but that's a minor quibble considering the rest of the movie should satisfy any zombie fan
The director had a small extra role in Frontière(s) (2007), an ultra gory flick coming from France. Here he is the director and he surely has seen how to make a gory flick due Frontière(s). In fact, La Horde is a brutal flick that turns quickly into a gory messy zombieflick. But I only had one complain, French flicks are know for having a lot of talking in it. And here we have that to, we do go deeply into the characters but once they meet the old man they go into a conversation that takes a bit too long. Nevertheless, still it do is gory and also has a bit of funny situations like the last man standing on top of a car. Second disappointment, the use of CGI. I can understand that it's low budget but zombie flicks really need the real jelly, latex, syrup stuff. But the excellent acting made it a rather enjoyable flick. But if you are looking for a brutal gore flick then you are on the right address, for me it even has an open ending...Be warned, the zombies are running so don't expect to have Romero zombies!Gore 3/5 Nudity 0/5 Effects 3/5 Story 3/5 Comedy 0,5/5
This is Good!! I've become quite a fan of French horror films lately, and of course I'm a big zombie fan (who isn't), but this is the first French zombie film I've ever seen. Anyone familiar with French horror, knows they like to do it hardcore, and this is no exception to that rule! In fact this may be the most hardcore zombie film you've ever seen. This is however a thoroughly modern zombie flick. It has a kind of stylised feel to it, that kind of sets it apart from traditional zombie fayre. In terms of the actual story though it's very much zombie trad - with the protagonists trapped in a tower block (a la "Attack the block"), under siege from the Zombie hordes outside (and some inside of course). The zombies are of the fast moving variety - what I call "runny zombies," cos they run straight at you! The set-up is suitably pretty basic. A "family" of police embark on an unsanctioned raid on a gang holed-up in a tower block to reap revenge for the death of one of their number. Things go horribly awry and to put the topper on a seriously bad day, the zombies then attack. The cops and the baddies have to form an uneasy alliance, joined by the odd lunatic resident of the tower block, to fight and escape the zombie hordes. There are a number of scenes and sequences in this which are pretty memorable, and one in particular that might just have your jaw dropping open! One final note - do not be put off by the subtitles - the translations are crisp and economical, and won't leave you still reading after the dialogue has finished - the subtitles won't be distracting you from enjoying all the glorious gory action! In a nutshell, if you like zombie films, then you simply MUST see this!
