Good , But It Is Overrated By Some

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

O dear, now i never have been put off by soundtrack so much as in this movie. I couldn't finish it for that reason. It's so distracting and so cheap you can't focus on anything else anymore. And there is not one single moment without this cheap computer composed diddies in the background.For the story. No cliché has been passed by, they're all in there. Including the sugar sweet caricatures. It's a horrendous insult to the public it's made for. This was actually even worse than "My name is Khan" which i considered the most horrible creation from India in the last decade. I'm not even gonna waste any time on writing more on it.

Though it's been 4 years after the movie released, it's a delight write a review on this movie. In real life, various human relationships are weighed, analyzed and misinterpreted to dishonor its values and discolor its beauty for personal interests. This is an intelligent and collective effort to beautifully feel the ideal Indian mannerisms and relationship values as in a beautiful dream; not only the romantic relationship between a boy and a girl but with families, parents, children, siblings, in-laws etc.Intelligent and effort-full scripting, excellent scene blended music/songs and profound insights in making those so called 'silly' moments of life beautifully. There were some scenes felt like could have been done better, but none of them stayed on top till the end of the movie. Though this movie has an old fashioned narration, repetitive camera movements, and evident studio backgrounds, altogether it wonderfully delivers a triangular chemistry between three environments; the girl, the boy and the audience. Sooraj, your commendable vision and patience to make 'vivah' points out that this won't be the last and your best of all the time! Eagerly waiting for another wonderful and better cinematic experience! :)

Long time ago in one of the movie awards function Sooraj Barjatya stood amongst "Bollywood Merchants" for his contribution to film industry. That was post Maine Pyaar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. And subsequently it was all downhill. Hum Saath Saath Hain survived owing to track record of Sooraj however sadly Main Prem Ki Diwaani Hoon failed miserably. In my opinion, Maine Pyaar Kiya stands tall when ti comes to the finest works of Sooraj. HAHK was overstretched and over-mushy. The lesser said about HSSH and MPKDH, the better.But with Vivaah the master storyteller returns back to where he truly belongs. Interesting plot, tight screenplay, well-written dialogues and fantastic execution. In Vivaah you can see the same soul which pervaded all through Maine Pyar Kiya. Its apparent that Sooraj has done a lot of self-introspection and learnt from his mistakes - the corrections are visible in Vivaah. For instance, the penchant for 14-songs is reduced to a couple of lines and the 3 1/2 hour is confined to 2 1/2. On the same note, there is no scope for PETA violation too.------------------------Performance:: 01. Shahid:: Fits the role to the T 02. Amrita Rao:: Restrained performance, immensely likable 03. Anupam Kher, Alok Nath & Manoj Joshi:: Just what you expect 04. Seema Biswas:: Under-utilised for the amount of talent this actress possesses. Even Himani Shivpuri could have pulled off this role with equal effectiveness. 05. Lata Sabharwal:: A new Bhabhi on the block 06. Amruta Prakash:: The makeup department failed to keep the consistent complexion that was required for the role especially when the actress is naturally fair complexioned------------------------The only fly in the ointment is the music which is completely out of place in contemporary times (sounds more like retro music).

Thanks to Sooraj for making us realize that we are people of traditions. Excellent movie made with perfect videography and directorship. the music is just excellent no comments. A true love story people need to have heart to understand this movie a must view. Good show of the gradual building of relationship faithfulness and trust that people lack in relationships nowadays.Keep it up Sooraj. I hope that you win the film fare but my first preference would be babul sorry about that.Waiting for more good movies from you.Regards
