Admirable film.
When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
This film tells the story of a bunch of animals in a park, whose home is being destroyed by the mayor's decision to build a theme park on the park. The story is quite fun, and the animals are cute. Jackie Chan's character is funny as the leader of Chinatown mice. It will keep children entertained.
Surly's takeover of the shop has given the nut-loving community an unlimited buffet. Andie refuses to join as she struggles to preach a hard working ethics. When the shop blows up, Surly pledges to find the group another easy food source. Meanwhile, Mayor Muldoon intends to bulldoze the idyllic Liberty Park and turn it into amusement park Liberty Land. This one continues the barely functional animated franchise. It's a repetitive series of action scenes and more action. The writing isn't that funny. An amusement park is not that threatening as far as paving over paradise. It's more about bring in a colorful set to have fun chasing through. This is better than others like the Chipmunks but it's nowhere near the Minions.
The life of ease, with all the animals getting "lazy, spoiled, and fat" comes to an end. The mayor has decided the park should be an amusement park, depriving our critters from their home. Our anarchist animals fight back. There are lessons about working together, friendship, and not spontaneously singing.Jackie Chan voices a martial arts mouse whose hands are "weapons of mouse destruction" Yes, it was that type of humor. Fun for adults too. Chan had a line that made me think of the Niemöller quote.
C'mon, people. What are we doing? How did we, as the human race, get here? How is it that I, a 31-year-old with a full-time job, a community of friends, and a family, have to spend 3+ hours and 250 published words viewing and considering the value of The Nut Job 2? Why does this even exist? The first barely made an impression of any kind on the culture, yet because of our obsession with familiarity, a second is thrusted upon us like so many unwanted vermin. In this outing, the central group of small woodland creatures has to protect their park-home from a greedy Mayor's plans to turn it into a shoddy amusement park. It's technically a comedy, only the jokes are excruciatingly unfunny, and, as if we're sitting in a terrible sitcom writers' room, are constantly being explained to us. Arnett's squirrel "hero" Surly is still in the lead, continuing his bid for one of the worst protagonists in history; he's selfish, static, unfunny, whiny, and annoying. Jackie Chan joins the nonsense this time, begging the question: is there any better example of waste than only using Chan as a voice-actor? It's a careless mess, with little positive to write about. Sure, there are a couple of jokes that marginally work, and the incessant amount of obnoxious vehicle crashes and action sequences look fine for what they are. Honestly, this might actually be a bit better than the first, but so what? Certain Transformers films are better than others as well, but they're still all God-awful. Nut Job 2 is a humorless, soulless, angry and mean-spirited throwaway that you probably won't and definitely shouldn't see.
