Best movie ever!

I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible

Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.

This is a witty and sexy romantic comedy that isn't offensive by any means. Don't think that it pokes at Hindu culture or any racial situations; it only tries to entertain the audience with sexual humor and the occasional American humor combined with nice choreography and crazy dialogs.The main character played by Jim Ministry is really fun and does perfectly the Hindu accent. It's like watching an episode of SNL but only better.The situations are funny and sometimes over the top but that's what makes this movie unique. Don't label it before watching it and you will surprise yourself.Heather Graham looks really sexy and cute, and actually, delivers a fine performance when she needs to.Marisa Tomei is one hot woman and in this movie she looks wonderful and still manages to deliver a believable performance.So I recommend this movie for those who enjoy romantic comedies with black humor and sexual situations.The ending is a blast.

I think the only reason I knew and wanted to see this film was because of the sexy leading actress from Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, and I'm glad I tried it, from director Daisy Von Scherler Mayer (Madeline). Basically Ramu Chandra Gupta (East Is East's Jimi Mistry) is bored with Bollywood films, but has been fascinated with Hollywood since childhood. So he travels to America, the country where dreams are made, to try and find fame. His first role is not what he expected when accidentally auditioned and won a role in a porn film, along with pron star Sharonna (Heather Graham), who keeps her career secret from fiancée Rusty McGee (Dash Mihok). Somehow Ramu gets himself into a situation where he pretends to be a sex guru, and borrowing the sexual advice of Sharonna, he slowly becomes well known as a rising star sex guru, eventually appearing on television (for his family home to see). There is the obvious point of the film where it seems bad things happen to almost everyone, but it passes, Ramu eventually confesses his fraud act, and Sharonna not only is found out as a porn star, but her groom is gay. So in the end, Ramu gets his girl, I guess a good career, and the ending sees them fly off in a car, just like the end of Grease. Also starring Marisa Tomei as Lexi, The Grinch's Christine Baranski as Chantal, Michael McKean as Dwain, Rob Morrow as Josh Goldstein and Sanjeev Bhaskar as Rasphal the Cook. The comedy is light but effective, the sexuality of the film is slightly more prominent, not a bad film. Worth watching!

THE GURU, in my opinion, is an excellent comedy about two Indian men who try to obtain the American dream! If you ask me, Ramu was the true definition of a ladies man! In addition, all of his antics were hilarious. Before I wrap this up, I'd like to say that everyone was ideally cast, the direction was flawless, the production design was spectacular, and the performances were top-grade. Now, in conclusion, I highly recommend this excellent comedy about two Indian men who try to obtain the American dream. I guarantee you you'll enjoy it, so go to the video store, rent it or buy it, kick back with a friend, and watch it.

The movie starts as a joke to immigrants- legal or illegal who are attracted to the Promised Land with "American Dreams" but the story gradually turns into revealing the shallow American society and its wrong notions about Indian culture and religion. The most sarcastic scene is when guru dances on the tune of a cheap Hindi song and people follow him. It is really hilarious how the Ramu is a shadowy Guru, while the real Guru is a porno-queen.Jimi Mistry's "Pretty- face, less acting" performance is compensated to a great extent by Heather Graham's superb performance.Dances and songs are appropriately wounded up in the story and does not interrupt its flow. Great Movie, if you are looking to laugh heartily, but if you are looking for some Romance or Indian culture & values this is not for you!
