That was an excellent one.
So much average
If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
It has been many days to see a hard-boiled noir like RR2. Characters have been portrayed very well and this thing does the half job for the movies. Nawazuddin is undoubtedly one of the strongest actors in the contemporary Bollywood cinemas, Vicky Kaushal's appearance, acting and style suits with the theme and weather. Vicky's sun glass-worn rigid, cold look, drug addiction, misogyny and rough attitude sways him from typical heroic to antagonist role. There wasn't a single moment where the tension gets loosed, such a well-directed movie. The use of lights and shadows in the night scenes gives the feeling to the audience about the crudity. In the last dialogues, Nawazuddin throws some moral questions to us, the brute side of humans which lurks among us always but we hardly accept it. People kill their mates for money, vengeance, communal disputes, nationalism blah blah... he kills only for his pleasure, not like a masked hypocrite.
The movie is very tedious in the beginning. There r scenes which jus lingers. The editing was too bad. The movie has too many flaws n absurdities. It lacked the thrill n tension. Bad direction. It lacked the character development which is much needed in these kinda flicks. The best chapter was "The Sister". Some realistic locations nicely shot n very good acting by Nawaz n a very hot babe. Agree that the movie is bold n it dealt with many issues (Raman's childhood sex abuse, Raman's incest with his sister, Raghav's childhood physical abuse n drug abuse, Raman's dominance behaviour towards his girlfriend, poverty, drugs adverse effects, bad police procedure n police brutality). This movie is gory but much of the killings r offscreen. Some lovely cinematography. While watching this two movies came to my mind. Killers (2014) n Headhunters (for the scene when Raman hides in the drainage water).
Mr.anurag ksshyap thank you for this movie... i m overwhelmed by this movie...everyone should see this movie...this is class of the Hindi movies inc. The story could have turned into one huge cliché, and there are genre elements that are numbingly familiar, was it not for the exceptionally scary performance of Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the role of the villainous, demented serial killer Ramanna. Anthony Hopkins' Hannibal need not move over, but he would certainly enjoy the nuanced performance of this rising Indian actor, who has demonstrated his extraordinary range in roles stretching from a humble office clerk in The Lunchbox to a porn-meister in Miss Lovely, as well as multiple gangster stints for Kashyap and others.
This is not a review (I'm just sharing my experience)Raman Raghav 2.0 is by an large a story of man's quest find a partner. I personally watched this movie as a graphic novel narrated by Ramanna. May be that is the reason shading not much light on Raghav's character didn't bother me, as we are understanding that character from Ramanna's point of view. The serious of murder happening as the story progresses is quite predictable, but the thing that kept me on the edge of the seat was Ramanna's inhuman nature to kill people like mosquitoes. Overall this movie gave me a unique movie going experience and help me understand the psychology of a serial killer.
