Good story, Not enough for a whole film
Admirable film.
This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
In the first minutes of the movie you can already know what the whole movie is about: swordfighting, techno music, regenerating humans and, of course, bad acting. I can easily describe it by saying: Da Vinci Code meets Highlander. And it is as horrible as it seems. Actions scenes are okay. Sometimes the scenes end and you're asking yourself why it took so long ( example: the main characters leave the screen and you get to see people walking on the background for way too long giving the scene some kind of funny feeling ). The main actor is okay ( I'm being nice here ) but most of the cast is horrible. You can smell every intrigue coming from a thousand mile away. No originality whatsoever. I recommend it for anyone who likes to laugh at movies not made to be funny.
This film tested my limited knowledge of German and there were no subtitles to piggyback off of either! The real hero for me is the remaining head of the "gut" or "good" Templars, but his second-in-command is a better leader in my view. The villains are definitely sepulchral and that is as it should be, yet in their view they are as pure or better than the real Templars - they pulled a smart one in making the boy David believe the Head Templar tried to kill his girlfriend - but think about it? When did he use anything but a sword? As for the training of David, while thorough, that seems too fast for the space of time elapsed in the film, yet this is "Berlin-wood" I guess...The fiercest fighter was at the end, a long haired "good" Templar who fought six men at the same time, he was my favorite! The movie was long yet very fast-paced and it had a great cliff-hanger that seems a bit like another tale from a long long ago in a galaxy far, far away, LOL!Still, I eagerly await the conclusion and its repercussions!!http://tinyurl.com/3464k/
I really liked this movie very much. It tells a moving story in a quite straightforward way. The viewers are immediately drawn to identify with the main character David, an orphan who gradually discovers his roots and with them a feud of several centuries' duration that he suddenly finds himself involved in.The acting was quite good, especially the young couple (I already liked Alicja Bachleda-Curus in "Sommersturm"). And there are some very nice swordfighting scenes between the two rivalling orders. Some characters were too transparent from the beginning (I knew the villain after five minutes) and they seem to have borrowed some traits from other movies (X-men, Indiana Jones), but hey! this is a young director. And he took on quite a big issue: some of the great relics of Christianity (the Holy Grail etc.), the Order of the Temple, ancient rivalry, two love stories....(no wonder there are a few loose ends). All in all, it's really worth watching. I enjoyed it immensely!
As the first of this two part TV production was on TV yesterday I thought... lets see if it is as bad as most of the German TV productions. It wasn't.OK, the story is a bit strange... and some details are a bit strange, too... but what impressed me most is the fact that the sword fighting (and there is a lot of it) is beautifully choreographed. As it is an integral part of the movie... I am happy to see that the producers really checked how good sword fighting looks like.Overall, I have to say that I really like this film and will definitely get it on DVD when available.
