Michael(Robertson, doing an incredible job, not only emotionally powerful but entirely credible as far as the disability goes - in fact, they all are) lives a life full of rules, and with constant assistance. He has cerebral palsy, and nearly unintelligible speech. When Rory(McAvoy, in my favorite performance of his), a spike-haired, pierced and generally irreverent(he's infinitely quotable, awesome and hilarious - lovable, in spite of his sometimes being a jerk) young man suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy moves into the same residential home, it turns out that he can understand Mike, and in spite of their vast differences, they form a friendship, leading them both into adventures they couldn't have had on their own.You believe that these guys are wheelchair-bound, which is important, since this is a hard, honest and respectfully humorous look at the problems faced by people in their situation and asking the question: do those in this condition need well-intentioned structure and care in a clinical setting, or do they need a shot at a real world life, the same as anyone else? The freedom to make mistakes and learn from them, to be part of society, to have fun.And yes, these actors don't really suffer from what their characters do - I fail to see any issue there. Obviously, I hope that the casting department gave anyone, able-bodied or not, a chance at the roles, and merely chose the ones who could best do the job. I would rather that, than the overly politically correct decision to sacrifice the talent of these leads, in favor of authenticity, with two unable to carry a motion picture(no small task) in their place. There are many breathtaking sights in this, and the filming and editing is incredible(if the use of rain can be a tad on the nose), always capturing the energy of the scene - a heated argument, the floor of a dance club, a race(!). The mix of comedy and drama is natural, evocative of one's personal experiences. Seriousness and consequence are always lurking after(and occasionally during) a wild, spontaneous escape from the dreary existence of someone in the care of trained professionals - sweet, yes, yet their smile always slightly restrained, always aware that the person in front of them is a Patient.Dialog is phenomenal(that goes for the writing overall - albeit the script does get close to clichéd territory, even briefly stumbling into it here and there), delivery and words alike, with countless jokes and humanizing moments. This has no villain, and even the one who comes the closest, like everyone else in this, always remains three-dimensional. The charm, compassion and love of life that makes up the fabric of this is irresistible. I defy anyone to not fall head-over-heels for the cute, caring Siobhan(Garai, who always maintains a personality, not becoming mere wish-fulfillment).There is a lot of strong language and a few references to sexuality in this. I recommend this to everyone. 8/10

A glorified version of cerebral palsy, I know for a fact that disabled people do not act like this, being disabled myself, and no disabled guy is a wimp, the story is pointless and dull. I also find the acting to be poor and it a shame that they could not cast anyone with cerebral palsy in a role. Personally, I think James Mcavoy would only have taken the character of Rory O'Shea in a vain attempt to clutch an Oscar, and found comfort in his poor level of acting throughout the film preventing him from achieving so. Overall, I would not recommend this film to anyone, and should you want a far more realistic, (and entertaining), story about cerebral palsy then I would advise you to watch Jim Sheridan's 'My Left Foot', which includes an Oscar-winning performance from Daniel Day-Lewis that completely outshines any of the acting in 'Inside I'm Dancing'.

Best comedy I have ever watched. Its very funny and not degrading to people with special needs. Its made on a low budget which doesn't take from it. It is very Irish which adds to its charm. Although funny it has some sad scenes. Its something men and women will both enjoy. Makes you more aware of the problems special needs people have. The main male actors are very good. I would like to see a sequel. Its a great idea that could have a follow up.If i was to try and pick faults for me i would say the love story part could have been more convincing or passionate and the sad part drags out a bit to much for a comedy. Other wise it is great a laugh a minute. Funny but simple and normal laughs. Brilliant.

To be honest I nearly skipped over this film, thinking that I wasn't in the mood for something slow pace, overly poignant and mundane! It was really only on the off chance that I thought I should at least give it a try.Straight away with the arrival of Rory O' Shea to the screen, I was drawn into the story! The connection between the leading characters of the film was intense. And Rory's father really brings an odd vibe into the film, giving an uncanny depth to the lead characters situations and disabilities! The greatest feature of the film, however, in my eyes, was the way in which the director took the film! The total lack of subtitles for Michael Crowley's difficulties to communicate orally was a different stroke from how a normal approach to dealing with this story would have been taken! This little feature was, in my estimation set the movie apart as a truly great. That spark and the tremendous acting, collaborative spirit, the plot (often exciting in moments and infinitely far from mundane) in the movie and the strong finish all contributed to me scoring this so highly!I'm rare to give tens - because I feel its the needle in a haystack that deserves a ten. But I feel comfortable doing so in this case! Very enjoyable movie. Watch it.
