If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

Slumber Party Massacre III's gravest sin is that it lacks what made the first two special. It doesn't even attempt at subverting the conventions of what it is (the first one started as a satire and got trashier in production but stuck to enough of its original intent to be unique) or be really out-there in its badness (the second one, which may be one of the most entertaining rockabilly slasher neo- surrealist movies of 1987). All this is is exactly what you might expect, and yet it only puts in the minimal amount of effort possible in its run- time (ironically the longest of these movies).Corman sold out with this one - not surprising he would do this of course, but at least this series, all helmed by women, had some teeth and, you know, *ideas* - and either didn't allow the filmmakers to get more creative or never hired anyone good in the first place. Its just a dumb, tired slasher with a final 20 minutes filled with such dumb and *mean* stuff (why do the girls stand by while that one kill happens that could have been stopped in the five real time minute lead up?)It's only for genre completists, or those who might dig watching what is in effect everything that made Scream necessary, from its "twist" third act reveal (think you know who the killer is? F*** off, like I should care) to the inane conversations the characters have are meant to make them sound like real people and not types; its not really fun enough to be a guilty pleasure or something to put on at a party (like, again, the second one was), and its 350 grand budget feels as cheap as that sounds. Its also not a total crime or offensive (hey, it could be worse - imagine Eli Roth putting his taint all over this), but you could be doing better things with your time.

Stupid teens decide to have a party and a killer with a drill decides to be the party pooper. Get the picture?I hated this sequel! Hated it with a passion. Come to think of it, I hate the first one and this one. The only movie I enjoyed was the campy second sequel. At least that movie knew what it was, and decided to be fun. This movie has none of that! This movie was so boring that I was doing other things at the same time. It goes back to the roots of the first movie, and is deadly serious a lot of the time, possessing none of the cheesiness that I loved from the second movie. This movie is really lazy and dated. At this time, slashers were slowly but surely starting to become less and less popular. This movie is an example why! Even though it's filled with gratuitous nudity and sex, there is no suspense what so ever. I love Nudity as much as the next guy, but it doesn't matter if there is no fun to be had. The violence level is fairly high. There are a lot of drills through chests that are pretty bloody. Another problem I had with this movie is the stupidity of some of the characters. One girl is being stalked by the killer and has a huge chance to survive! In lieu of trying to survive, she yells "F**** You!" and inexplicably hurls herself through a glass window, basically letting herself get killed (!) It doesn't help that the killer is a snivelling little wimp. I'm not even gonna mention the acting! They're all terrible! Sounding like they were reading lines off a cue card. The first movie has a cult following (Why I don't know!) and the second movie is lots of cheesy fun! I would avoid this sequel like Ebola and watch the first two! I think the first sucks, but others obviously feel differently.DUD

There's no escaping it: "Slumber Party Massacre 3" is terrible. The acting is so bad that you'll cringe, and the undercurrent of this film is more serious that the second one that had to be respected for charting its own course. How odd is this film? Well let's put it this way: the film bills one guy "wierdo," however very clearly there are two of those.Okay, so the plot: some friends decide to have a Slumber Party, and only one girl gets to invite a guy. The other guys crash the party, and of course as happens, one by one the girls and their boyfriends are whittled down. For some reason, the killer dons a mask to kill the first couple, but then shuns it to kill most. Of course, there's no connection to the first two- why the killer chooses to use a drill when a knife, a machete, a gun, or any number of other things would make more sense. I guess however if the killer isn't using a drill, it can't be a "Slumber Party Massacre" film.On a related note, the quality of acting is so obviously varied- two or three of the actors are decent, and the rest are strictly chosen based on their cute-ness! I'd tell you more about the film, but I can't. It follows no logical projection or anything. Its total cheese, although its not meaning to be.

~Spoiler~ Slumber Party Massacre 3 is possibly the most predictable movie ever made. This thing held absolutely no surprise for me. It has a lot of mis-direction for no reason. It looks as though they were trying to make a whodunit but you know who the killer is if you look at the back of the box. Absolutely ridiculous! Speaking of the back of the box, there are three pictures that are not in the movie. Never does the "driller killer" use a hook, yet on the back of the box he's killing two different females with one. There is also a ton of filler material to make it a feature length film and the three main guys all could be famous look-a-likes: Richard Grieco, Patrick Dempsey, and Lavar Burton. The flick is majorly lacking a complete story. Ken's (the killer) uncle killed himself, but why he did it is never explained. Why he is killing the girls is never explained, although the main girl's father is a lawyer and that may have something to do with it. I'm completely reading into that one because the movie never refers to that. Also, Ken acts really weird when any of the girls go for his package. Could his uncle have molested him? I'm also reaching there because it's never explained. Funny scenes include the many opportunities they pass up to kill Ken, death by dildo, and one guy dies from getting hit in face. The topper is one scene where Ken is distracted with one girl for 10 minutes and the other girls are just standing around. No one helps out, no one tries to escape, it's hysterical. Typical slasher junk. If you think the first two Slumber Party Massacre's were bad, you ain't seen nothing yet.
