Brilliant and touching
Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
"Dead Space", is considered as one of the greatest video game's ever made. It was both scary and fun. Upon it's release, not only a comic-book series was made, but a Direct-To-Video animated prequel was released. The thing's I liked about this movie was the animation was great, I liked how they kept the monster's from the video game in the movie, and I liked the story. The thing's I didn't like about this movie is that the character's were flat and the acting was mediocre. With the exception of Jim Cummings as The Captain and Kevin Michael Richards as Samuel Irons.Overall, "Dead Space: Downfall", is a decent prequel that's still worth watching only if you're a fan of the game. If not, then this film is not for you.
At first, I didn't think an animated movie would be a good medium for a prequel to a survival horror game.Turns out I was very wrong! I loved the Dead Space video game with it's creepy atmosphere, disgusting monsters and violent scenes. At the end of the game, there are still several mysteries unexplained though. And that's where Downfall comes into play.Dead Space Downfall explains almost everything about the events of the game Dead Space. Mainly the whole reason WHY they brought the marker on board and what the purpose of it is. There's also a lot of dialog and a collection of characters of which some return in Dead Space through flashbacks, audio logs or cut-scenes.In overall, this movie connects very well to the first Dead Space game. It's very violent, bloody and scary at times; just like the video game.I highly recommend to watch this if you've played Dead Space. Don't watch it before you played the game though. It would spoil a lot of the nifty plot twists in the game...I give Dead Space Downfall 8 out of 10 stars.
This is nothing more than a companion, and a compliment to the amazing game by EA games, and it fulfills all expectations i had of it. This manga does not push the limit as far as clever animation, but does offer some pretty interesting moments, the weapons are not spectacular neither are most of the characters, but the aren't out of place either, they fit very well in the Dead Space world. Also this will seem like a cheap ripoff to anyone who hasn't played the game, because so many elements feel like a different movie, such as resident evil, or aliens. But, for fans of the game it is nice to see the USG Ishimura in another light, and see so many nuances to the game that is very cool and satisfying. Don't expect revolutionary, this is best thought of as a really long DS intro, nothing more.
When I first heard about this movie, I thought it was an anime got really excited because I love anime and Dead Space is an awesome game. I waited first to complete the game before I got the movie, so I did. And what do I get for my waiting? Pure crap, that' what. It was not anime for one, it was regular American animation. Since the game is 18+ I would have at least expect some cool more adult-like animation, but no. The animation part of this film is completely awful, I can't stand it. OK I could handle the 3d animation even though they were not that good. But the character animations are just awful, I mean it's like watching Disney Channel. And Im guessing that's what audience they are looking for since I can't imagine an adult enjoying this movie. They voice acting was good, that's pretty much the only thing I don't have a complaint on. The dialogue was pretty lame, typical American tough guy crap, it's so cliché and overdone. So, I guess they were trying to please with film is the gamer audience and the animation audience. Well I don't watch much American animation so I can't really say anything about that, but I doubt the US would succeed on making as good animation as Japan. But as a gamer, Im disappointed, Dead Space is a really good game I enjoyed playing it a lot and feel that it's on of the few great accomplishments done by the EA. So as a gamer Im really disappointed in this movie, so unless you're a hardcore Dead Space fan I would avoid it.
