Ring and Ring 2 were fantastic horror films that I to this day love and terrify me. Ring 0..Ring 0 tells the story back in the 50's where Sadako is represented as two sides;a good side and a bad side. The good side is in a theater group and soon enough the staff start to die mysteriously and it all leads up to Sadako,the evil side is a little girl who is not really in it that much. Ring 0 sounded like it was going to be the best film in years I mean two Sadako's ehhhh WOW! sadly,i was wrong..Ring 0 was a very boring movie. I think that this should have stood out as a movie on its own like maybe a different film but same idea. I think the problem was the director,Hideo Nakata did not sadly return to make this film. The ending scene was kind off what kept it from being a pile of crap but ehh..ya. Ring 0 ruins the Ring franchise sadly what used to be the scariest horror franchise is nothing now..

Ring 0 is a Japanese horror film that serves as a prequel to the film Ring. The film features Yukie Nakama,Kumiko Asou, and Tanabe Seiichi. It was directed by Norio Tsuruta, based on a screenplay,written by Hiroshi Takahashi,is based on the short story Lemonheart from the Birthday anthology by Koji Suzuki.Ring 0 provides the background story of how Sadako later became the vengeful murdering spirit. The story starts with her as a shy, somewhat withdrawn, college student who nonetheless gets involved in a drama club. The director thinks she has talent, but some of the other performers start to get jealous of the attention he gives her. Meanwhile, a reporter investigating Sadako's spiritualist mother thinks there's something very suspicious about the young woman, and arrives on campus to confront Sadako just as a series of strange deaths start sweeping through the drama club.The prequel fell short in matching the greatness of Ring.Aside from the fact that parts of the film felt draggy and it was slow on some parts,it wasn't scary and horrifying enough to become a horror classic.Aside from that,the characters aren't intriguing enough for the viewer to really care about them.It becomes a case of an "exercise" of who and how one gets killed and a matter of how daunting and horrific one gets killed or not.Too bad that a lot would have expected it to be better than Ring or at least match its greatness would definitely feel disappointed.But nevertheless,it does not fall short in entertainment as a decent horror film.

I found this to be an excellent movie. First of all, this movie is really terrifying. This movie might even be almost as scary as the original ringu. There were a few interesting scares during the second half of the movie and there were a few jumpy scenes as well. There were more scares in this movie than the original ringu, though as a whole this movie isn't as scary as the original. The ending for this movie was a very sad and scary one. Basically, this movie explains why Sadako ended up being thrown in the well. This movie is electrifying, and is interesting that some of the scary scenes took place in the forest. There was one scene where Sadako seem to even twist her own body. I thought that was terrifying and rather unique. This movie starts of being very interesting for the first twenty minutes, then continues with some long draggy and boring dialogs showing how Sadako and the other man build up their relationship slowly. The scenes that took place in the theatre just got draggy after the first twenty minutes. However, let the show take a little while to grab you. Halfway during the movie, it grabbed me, and I could not stop watching this film. This film is both electrifying and relatively sad. Another major complain I have about this film is that very much like ringu, the scariest scenes in this film take place entirely during the day and not at night. This eases out a lot of tension and fear when I watch the movie. Other than that, this movie has an interesting storyline, an interesting idea, a relatively touching film. This film is recommended. Score: 8/10

This is a prequel which actually works and explains things rather than giving even more questions. You can argue weather the mystery of Sadako is better left untouched, but the fact still remains; this is a good movie.The lead (Yukie Nakama as a shy Sadako) is very good, even though it's obvious she's a Japanese version of Carrie White; misunderstood, creepy and with gifts she never wanted. That's the only real problem with this movie; the original ring movie was just that; original. This movie however, get's inspiration from other sources, such as Carrie, and that removes some of it's power.While it's not as moody as Ring, Ring 0 still has some very good horror scenes and some smart camera-work. Seeing a white shape just at the edge of the screen is much more effective than, for example, the killer's POV.As with Ring, this is a bit slow but builds up to a good finale. There are no special effects really, and it's very down-to-earth, one of the qualities of this and Ring.Finally, there's the fact that it's Japanese. There's something refreshing about seeing a movie in a different language, in different environments, in a different culture.I recommend this movie to those who liked Ring. It's definitely a worthy prequel. 7/10
